?NEW DISNEY RESORT? What name, theme?

What about an Australian hotel? Think about the Sydney opera house, Ayers Rock, the outback, Great Barrier reef. And of course, all the amazing animals.

I loved the princess idea and could see combining it with the villians maybe. Even though I don't have small children at home anymore, I think it would great if WDW had a "kidsuites" type resort for families.

Love the Greece idea also. Thought immediatlely of Italy but oops - Universal already did that one.

This is fun.

No matter what the theme I hope the next WDW resort can accommodate larger families. Luckily when my 4 kids were younger my parents were always along for the trip, and 2 of the kids could stay in their room. There needs to be some more alternatives for larger families.

I would love to see a Mickey and Minnie themed resort! The rooms would have Mickey and Minnie pics and the restraunts would have Mickey character meals! They could have minnie and mickey old cartoons showing in the lobby for kids and the pool would be shaped like Mickey with whirlpools in the ears or hotubs in the ears.

Would love to see a moderately-priced larger-family type resort, but to do that, you would almost have to have "communal" bathrooms of sorts; similar to the camping experience. Or, have taller buildings within any given footprint; but then you would lose any sort of intimacy in the resorts. Think what either CBS or POR would feel like if you were surrounded by 5-story buildings...almost would give one a canyon feel.

I, for one, would just like to see a moderate resort that has interior hallways. It stilll seems a little strange that value and moderate resorts are limited to 2- or 3-story motel structures (non matter how nicely themed) when having inside hallways are actually more cost-effective for air conditioning and security. The only thing more cost-effective in building a motel is in the actual building since all the plumbing, etc., can be routed closer together. Hardly makes up for the benefit of the guests being able to keep their curtains open when they're in the room.

Another idea for a themed-resort - would love to see a pueblo/mountain-butte/canyon style hotel where Disney could do an "Indian" (or, Native American) themed resort. It would be interesting to have a large 8-story "mound" between the WL and FW campground that is pocketed with pueblo-style openings. I know, I'm the first one to rant against another southwestern-spanish-hacienda-beachfront style resort at Disney, but this one could almost have an old-west sort of feel to counterbalance WL.

A lot of the ideas sound great, you could maybe combine some of the ideas together.

Around the World- Have the differant sections based on the continents and the rooms in these would reflect the differant countries within the continents. The pools could be the oceans, little streams or even bigger rivers running through that represent some of the worlds rivers like the Mississippi, Nile, Amazon and there could be ponds located throughout the whole resort to represent sea's and lakes (like the Great Lakes)

The Wonderfull World of Disney- Sections could be based on Disney Movies. There could be the Princess section with each floor based on a differant Disney princess, Animal Section with Bambi, 101 Dalmations, Lion King, etc, Villians, and Classic Character's, Mickey, Minnie etc.

And each of these resorts could be multi-usage with rooms starting at 1 double bed on up to rooms big enough for 6 with a mini kitchen area.

That was Disney's original concept, bigmerle, that each country be a different resort and experience...I know this won't be the first place I post this, but EPCOT was never meant be a paid theme park (stands back as Disney's managment takes aim...); so to get back to the original concept, I would love to see a resort attached to each of the Nations!!!

Hey, I know this won't appeal to the largest audience but since we are dreaming. .

. . . I wouldn't mind seeing Disney build a pet-friendly hotel with some Disney Magic for our "other" family members. Nice on-site kennels for boarding during the day. Themed play areas, outside dining where pets are allowed, character photo ops with well-behaved pets, and Disney dogs and cats everywhere (Pluto, Goofy, the Aristocats, Lady & the Tramp, etc.). Would love to have memories of my daughter enjoying Disney with her dog.

We must be twins, MagicOurWay, I posted the same idea a couple of pages back! :) Maybe if we petition Disney enough, they'll grant our wishes? :rotfl:

I would love a TRULY Deluxe Resort. Something comparable to a Ritz or Four Seasons. With all the perks and just as expensive :earboy2: I hate Pop and All-star too much going on. However I love AKL and its more subtle theming. What I love about GF is the Alice in Wonderland prints almost hidden on the fabrics in the room. But the service just isn't that great at GF.

We are big dog people. Our dogs are our children. (Yeah, flame away....I've heard it all from my mother....)

Why not have a pet-themed resort which is pet friendly? As my husband pointed out on our last trip, there are disney dogs (pluto, goofy, fox & hound, lady and the tramp, 101 dalmations, etc.) and cats (aristocats, lucifer in Cinderella, etc.) all over the place. Funny, after we got back, they've just started this new series of commercials where dogs go to disney world.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were actually a place where dogs WERE welcome at Disney World (other than the drop-off at 9, pick up by 5 kennels.)

We would second, third, and fourth a Disney hotel that is truly pet-friendly. Definitely would pay to have them fly with us if we could vacation with them as well!! In addition, it would be easier on our friendships!

Think of the secondary industries it would support - car kennel rentals, pet transportation, delivery of dog food, etc. Really think Disney is missing out on something like this.

Er...two problems - 1) what type of pets are acceptable; and 2) Disney only needs one problem with a pet/pet owner and there goes the program.

Argh, I hate to have to worry about the litigation since it's never MY dog that's a problem...

Oh my gosh I'd love to be able to bring my dog, and find a pet-friendly onsite resort! I can only imagine that it would be VERY difficult to keep clean and fresh smelling tho! :crazy2: Or quiet for that matter, forget that idea :headache:

But taking Cupcake WOULD be fun; she's a super fun dog and would have a blast, I think :)

Ok! My nose is bent out of shape! How dare anyone claim that all NASCAR fans are "redneck hicks"!

As for resort themes, I like the pirate idea, and the French Riviera idea. What about a Playhouse Disney themed resort that would include childcare for babies/toddlers and bigger rooms for families larger than 4? My son is gaga over the Wiggles right now and Stanley.

Love the idea of a suite resort that can accomodate more than 4 people. We
have 4 children and would love the be able to stay on the grounds in a comfortable, large room :cheer2:

Disney is involved with NASCAR and vise versa.
With the Daytona 500...... Also Disney & NASCAR have teamed up to make the new 'Herbie" movie.
I'm sure there is alot more Disney/NASCAR projects in the works.
Indy 500 is also represented at WDW at the MK.
I would not be at all surprised if we see a hotel project based on auto racing.
Auto racing is the hottest and most popular sport in the world right now.

I think there would be a major issue with the odor in rooms with pets (we seldom take our 3 lb. Yorkie to hotels, due to the issue with odor in pet-friendly rooms). What I am suggesting is a pet-friendly resort, where there are kennels on-site, where you can leave them at night and while you are at the parks. Then, when you are not at the parks, you can have them at the resort with you, just not in the rooms. I loved the suggestions about cat and dog themed resort, and there could be pet play areas, etc. I left Zsa Zsa with my mom on our last trip, because I did not want to leave her in a kennel 24/7. If she were at a kennel at our resort, and I could get her out and spend time with her at the resort (just not take her to the room), I would have taken her without a thought. How does that sound? :confused3

I think before they even think of anything else, they need to take care of their unfinished business over at Pop Century. The Classic Years is a beautiful hotel...until you get to Hourglass lake....then you get a lovely view of the Legendary Years...or as I like to think of it, Disney's tribute to the Great Depression. The finished buildings look like army barracks...LOL. :wizard:

European theme. It could be laid out like CBR or CSR with various countries around a lake sorta like in EPCOT. That would be great for those of us who have never been able to spend a few nights in Europe. Don't know what to call it, though.

After reading this thread I went home and asked my kids what kind of resort they would look for at Disney.....Hands down, Villians was the first thing that came out of both of them (DS9, DD6). After that DS suggested resorts to match the pavillions of EPCOT. He figures that it is highly unlikely that we will ever get to really visit these places and would like to see more of what they are really about.

DD loved the idea of being able to bring her dog (Nala) to Disney since she was named after a Disney character. I think the idea of being able to kennel the animal on property rather than in the room would make for a wonderful trip for all (no smelly rooms).

I personally have enjoyed reading this thread. Some of the ideas are wonderful. This info should be forwarded to the powers that be (as if they would listen to us, LOL). My favorite is the Americana theme. Hopefully if they ever reopen the Treehouses (one can dream can't they?) they can incorporate into the resort.

I've talked about this with my Mom before. We came up with....

1. A Disney Princess/Hero theme
2. A Neverland theme
3. An Arabian theme (like from Aladdin)
4. Something for kids with Winnie the Pooh characters and Mickey Mouse without it being a value resort. (ya know, bigger rooms, queen beds, all the stuff you don't get at a value, etc...)

Just my opinion....... :teeth:
