New Disney Park Announced Super Bowl?

My dad heard on the radio that Disney was going to open a new park and it would be announced on Super Bowl Sunday. I told him that it wasn't true. Have you guys heard anything like that? I still think he's pulling my leg b/c there's nothing on the internet or news about it.

My wife was told something similar by a CM@POFQ last week - I found it odd that I had seen no buzz and decided to discount the idea as pure rumour... Anyone else hear anything?

I am guessing rumor, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

My DS (15 mind you but an aspiring CM) said he saw something about this in my parents stock holder report. I haven't had a chance to ask my parents about it yet. Maybe I'll try to get my hands on their report to see what my DS saw!

As a stockholder I didn't see anything other than the normal 'we're always expanding and creating new avenues to increase market share in the theme park area"

Perhaps this is what he was talking about. It's west of Animal Kingdom. I did read a rumor that they were going to put another park, but I don't think it's true.

Reedy Creek Improvement District filed paperwork Thursday seeking state permission to clear and excavate a small part of a 330-acre site at the interchange of the new State Road 429 expressway and Disney’s Western Way entrance road.

This fall, unconfirmed Internet reports pinpointed the area as a future Disney hotel, condominium, shopping and dining district known as the “Western Beltway Development.” Disney officials would not discuss plans for the site, and until now would not acknowledge a “Western Beltway Development” exists.

This development .. sort of like a "Downtown Disney West" if you will supposedly will feature more fast food type restaurants and a new class of Disney hotel rooms apparently called "Economy". These would be priced below Value rooms and would be aimed at those staying off site in the US-192 area.

Disney is supposedly premiering the Pirates of Caribbean 3: At Worlds End Trailer during the SuperBowl. I saw that on TV Guide online. Aren't they expanding in Hong Kong?

Ive heard reports of A new Hotle being built ( possibly a new dvc) but the New Park talk is just all rumors at this point

My money says this little tidbit turned into a rumor, and that the Super Bowl Sunday hook came in because of speculation about who's going to say "I'm going to Disney World."

My money also says that the next new park announced will be in China. Talks for the Shanghai park hit a glitch a couple months ago, but China's pretty deep into negotiations, so it'll likely be somewhere in that country.

It was mentioned on a local radio station I listen to. I was shocked - but I will believe it when I see it or hear about it officially.
