Has everyone seen that Disney is building a hotel at the National Habour in Maryland. I'm so excited b/c this is in my backyard. :cheer2:

I can't post a link to the article b/c my post count is not high enough yet. But you can google it to find more info.

Disney doesnt do anything without a reason and I am not seeing a true reason for why they are building this, there has to be more than what is in the articles and on the news.

Having been raised in NVA for 40 years I know exactly where this is going and I just don't see a reason for it.. Yes it's a conference center, a high end, beautiful one at that, but there is no metro system, not convenient to any airports, it's not near any of the tourist destinations and I hate to say this but it is in PG County, which does not have the best reputation in regards to crime and crime preventation (I know there are some nice places but overall it has a very negative following). None of this follows the pattern that Disney usually has for parks, resorts (like Hawiaa new resort, etc.)

I can tell you one thing, it won't be cheap to stay there, nothing within the radius of DC is cheap.. I can only assume it will be Grand Floridian pricing and higher...

There is more to this than we are being told, should be interesting to watch how it unfolds...

There's something very odd about this news story. This doesn't seem like a family destination like Hawaii is. It's more of a business setting. Why here?

Why not?

A lot of people don't realize that Disney is trying to break-into the hospitality business, just like the other big luxury chains. The DC area is a prime market for conventioneers and government travel.

In the big scheme of things, it has nothing to do with "family destinations", at all...

Problem is this is far from a prime location for the DC area.. There is no subway, no airport that close and it sits right off the worse area in DC in regards to traffic. Hospitality business I understand, it is this location no one understands..

I can't remember who posted it here first, but I think that they had it right... This will be a good way for Adventures by Disney to do their East Coast stuff. Or abnother off property DVC destination. Whatever it is I am very happy it will be just minutes away from me!
