Am I missing something?

Lowe's Amex Offer - I don't understand, why wouldn't it work on gc's in-store? Just last week DH and I had a Kroger Amex offer and it worked when we bought in-store. I don't think there's ever been a report/DP when it didn't work since: 2015 <yes, this is a link.

It's been too long, we forgot how they work!

Mine wouldn’t want to do that. He wants one card so he doesn’t have to think. It’s why I asked in the credit card thread what to get him for his work travel charges. It became pretty obvious that his job ‘that wouldn’t have much travel’ in fact had quite a bit more than what we were used to. And since he was putting all of it on a personal card to get reimbursed, he definitely needed a travel based to card to get more bang for all these charges.

My hubs has a specific note in his iPhone that he checks to make sure he uses the right CC. He knows he'll get some side eye if he uses the wrong one lol!

My DH has long relinquished his logins to me. If he happens to be the one buying something, he just asks "what card do I use" and that's the extent of his involvement, lol.

I was told here that Amex has some sort of clause that gift cards don’t earn rewards and they have taken back rewards/CB from people for purchasing GC. This was in response to my 6% back at grocery stores. So maybe these special offers were never included I dont know, But this is where my comment stemmed from.

I’ve never had this experience with any chase or Amex offer. People theorize a lot on here without having actual data points.

They can “like” or “dislike” whatever they please. If they don’t specifically exclude gift cards in the terms/conditions and people are getting the bonus, then nothing else matters.

Again, too many people are not speaking from actual experience and just speculating what AmEx will do. It causes needless confusion. I’d trust real world experiences over random guesses.

That’s why it’s important to report back on whether or not these offers trigger. To give a specific example, people in here have insisted that the Amex blue everyday won’t give me 3% off for gift cards purchased at samsclub.com, but it’s literally worked every time I’ve tried it. I’ve done it as recently as last month for Spotify gift cards, but people will still argue about it for whatever reason.

However, Lowe's Amex is an offer not a bonus and that's what the topic is on.

If a handful of peeps said the offer didn't trigger the cb AND a handful of others posted they had no issue, a Warning would be set for possible glitch. They would then need to call Amex to set things right.

And if a handful of peeps posted no dice, than a DP would be in place. Again neither of the scenario's have happened.

My Lowe’s GC purchase from yesterday posted and while the $10 isn’t under transactions yet, the offer shows up as redeemed under ‘savings’ so it should post in a day or so. So it’s working as expected.

It was a big player here on the boards that ls why it took it to be true. I can see that maybe I was just thinking of a blanket be careful with Amex when in actuality it was for standard CB not bonuses, so that’s why I posted the terms since it said online gift cards. Many times I have posted things here and I get negativity and have been scolded at times. It makes me not love participating.

just got back from BJ's, normally when the addl off shows online, it is in store too
the extra $2 off did not apply in store on $100 gift card, I did not try $500 YMMV
I had rewards of $21.23 that I could use so paid $75.76
next week I will go back when my next rewards hit
