Sorry if this has already been addressed, been off boards for a week.....

Does anyone have more specifics on the new Disney Visa card? It said credits toward services and merch. at Disney World.... just wondering if you can apply toward your room rates?

Thanks.:D

When I applied a few days ago, I asked and was told that rewards could be applied to resort rooms. I didn't ask him to go into any more detail, but he did also say that when we are ready to apply reward $ we call a special phone # and we are sent a certificate. I wish I had more info, I hope to get it when the card arrives.

The Disney Visa is a Visa, like any other except it has the Disney name. If you can charge your room to your other Visa's, and I think that now you can, you can certainly charge your room to that one. Think of the reward points you will rack up!

Do you mean can the card be used for your room or can the reward points you accumulate by using your card be used toward rooms at Disney?

I was asking if the rewards can be applied toward the cost of the resort room.... AMClvsMKY replied that they were told a certificate would be issued for rewards and thus used when at WDW. I applied for the card tonight and also hope to get more details when it arrives. I'm not going back until 2004 so I've got a whole year to accumulate "rewards". Anything to save a few bucks!;)

Too bad it's only a 1% reward program though. My amazon.com visa is much better than that.

The best "perk" in my estimation is the fact that if you charge a package deal to your Disney Visa, you won't have to pay it off for 6 months. Unfortunately for me I am a DVC member, and we won't be able to take advantage of it.

Hopefully they'll do something for DVC members along the way.

Brian, that perk leaves out AP holders as well, since the packages have to be ticket-inclusive. Nice that Disney burns its most loyal guests right from the beginning.

The funny thing is that most people who initially get the Disney Visa will be AP holders/DVC members, or other people who don't get the packages including tickets.

Why would it leave out AP holders? I thought I would be able to use the rewards when I just book a room - do you something about the legalities that would prohibit me from doing that?

In the wording in the e-mail they send you it says that it can be used for packages but I don't see anywhere where it says it can be used for room only. Am I missing it?

It says it can be combined with discounts but I think it probably means discounts on packages.

It does look like they leave the average person who books their room seperately and either has an AP or buys tickets seperately out of the loop.

I think the card is a let down. This is just MHO. I don't think an AP holder or DVC member will be happy with it. I think people that book packages will.
