I have news about a new way DVC is processing developer points. I made 2 reservations today using my developer points and was not only given a confirmation number immediately, but also I am able to see my reservations on DVCmember.com. I was told by a manager the points will soon be able to be seen in your account as if they were normal points. For anyone who has had the wonderful distinction of trying to use developer points, this is very welcome news!

I'm sorry. I'm a prospective DVC owner. What are "developer points?" TIA

Developer points were part of an incentive package (that is no longer available).

Briefly, they were points that could be used to make a reservation 7 months prior to arrival. They were good for a period of one year and could not be banked or borrowed. Reservations had to be handled by a special group and often took several days (sometimes weeks) to get done. They were a bit of a hassle to use and changes & cancellation were even more so

The OP's information is good news for those who chose that option as part of their purchase.

Yes, I can confirm that because although my developer points ressie took a while to be processed, it did show up in my reservations on the web site. My 16 left over developer points are also showing up there as remaining. The only issue I have is - I cannot find anywhere on the site that shows when they expire - I know it is February 2009, but you can't find that information on the site anywhere. My points available for banking is 0, which is correct, because you can't bank them, but it would be helpful if it was clear that they don't expire until next year.

Very interesting! My left over developer's points aren't showing up yet, but it is possible that they expired since I bought them with the 7 month rule.

They will not show up on the website.

Also I posted a thread last week stating that they were "overwhelmed" with developer/incentive point booking requests and processing.

Rob :)

I was told by a DVC manager that developer points will be posted into your account on DVCmember.com. Now, whether or not that is true, I don't know, just posting the info. I can confirm that reservations made with developer points DO show up on your vacation summary on the member website.
