We'll be having lunch at LTT and dinner at Kona for the first time next week. I have a huge sweet tooth and the desserts were part of the reason I chose these ADRs, unfortunately the menus have changed.

Has anyone tried the new version of Kilauea torte? How does it compare to the old one? What about the new desserts at LTT? Allears lists a 3 chocolate brownie and a toffee cake. Anyone tried either of these?

I've had the new Kilauea Torte. I didn't like it at all. The old one was my favorite dessert in WDW. It was so chocolatey, and would gush hot chocolate sauce when you broke it open. Now it tastes like a dry warm chocolate chip cookie. You could just go to Capt. Cook's counter service for a cookie! The chocolate center is now so hard to find, it doesn't gush at all, and when you finally do find it, it will be about 1 bite of chocolate. It is served with a coconut sauce, which I don't like either, as I don't like coconut. It is barely even chocolate any more. Two servers insisted it was "so much better now," and wasn't so intensely chocolate as the old one. No, it sure isn't! I told them that the "intensely chocolate" part was what I liked. They said, "oh." My dh had it, too, and he didn't like it either. The original dessert was our reason for going to Kona Cafe. We'd go every trip just to get that dessert. Now we won't be back, unless they bring back the old one.

Oh I read a review with a picture of the new Torte at Kona just yesterday. Sounded interesting but I didn't realize it REPLACED the old one! I thought it was some sort of special. Oh, that is disappointing. The original was WONDERFUL!!

I almost had a heart attack! I didn't know they changed the menu at LTT - but I just checked and my ALL-TIME favorite Disney dessert is still there at lunch.

The Carmel Apple Tart - it is huge! The shortbread crust and apples are wonderful, and the cinnamon ice cream is not overpowering with spice.

My favorite lunch at LTT is just the crab cake, and the apple tart for dessert.

Enjoy!

Ooey Gooey Toffee dessert, my new favorite:

My server recommended it to me when I ate there Monday, and my mouth has been watering every time I think about it now. I definitely have a sweet tooth also-I just can't tell you how good it was,Mmmmmmmmmmm!

I didn't think the new one is awful, but the old one was definitely better. It's definitely not chocolatey enough. I did like the coconut sauce however, but I agree coconut is usually a love or hate thing and it says nothing about it on the menu. Our server also told us the change was for the better ... maybe we had the same server :rotfl: I agree the outside is really really dry now. The center wasn't warm or gushy at all.

We did also hear that the ono isn't selling and that the macadamia mahi mahi will be returning. We'll see about that.

A few months ago, went to Kona for dessert. I had heard that my favorite, Koko Puffs were no longer on the menu. But acting on a tip here, I asked if they were still available, waiter asked the chef and they made it up for me. Just the way I remembered, yum.

I had the new one, but I liked it. I liked the old one better, but the one I had of the new one was good, with lots of chocolate in the center.

That may have been my review. When I ate there it was a special, and they had both lava cakes, I didn't know the chocolate chip one was going to replace the original one.
