What if......

WDW offered a DDP that included 2 counter service and 2 snacks a day?

Or.... 3 counter service a day?

Would you choose one of those options over the current plan? Why? Would you choose it if it costs the same or less?

:sunny:

Both your options would cost less out of pocket!

the attraction of the plan for me is definitely all the pricey ts meals that I probably would feel gulity about otherwise. :rotfl:

I wouldn't book it. That sounds like our first trip to WDW. We only had one TS meal. The rest of our meals were CS and stuff in the room. Never again.

I'd rather postpone the trip, than "dine" that way again

That would be okay if there were more good CS around the world. There are a handful of notable ones. Beyond that.... only in a last resort situation....

How about if the Disney Dining Plan were based on points. Each day, each person in your party gets 6 points. Snack = 1 point. CS = 2 points. TS = 3 points. Signature = 6 points.

Use them however you want to use them.

I like that idea. :cheer2:

Weren't the old Silver, Gold, and Platinum plans like that? You get a certain number of "Wishes" per day to use for whatever type of dining you liked. I think the cost was more than the current DDP.

Part of what I like about the plan is the table service option.

Honestly, the only change I would want to see is them eliminate the dessert with a counter service meal and add in another snack instead so you have:

1 TS credit (as is)
1 CS credit - combo/entree and drink
2 Snack credits (most items less than $4)

To me it would add just that little more flexibility so you didn't have to have your counter service dessert at the same time as your combo.

I think it would also reduce people's reluctance to use a CS credit for breakfast because you don't get a dessert.

The old gold plan included 3 TS meals per day for everyone in your party, including all signature restaurants plus others not on the MYW plan like Rainforest CAfe, Portobello Yacht Club, and others. I also included unlimited recreation like water rentals. Unlimited free child care clubs, free Cirque tickets, 2 free lanyards when you checked in with 2 free pins each. We also got 2 free pictures on that wall in Epcot with those little picture tiles. This plan ROCKED. It was our favorite! :cheer2: :cheer2: :)

The silver plan gave you 2 wishes per day for each member of the party. A "wish" could be used for a TS meal, so in effect it gave you 2 TS meals per day (eg. breakfast at Crystal Palace and dinner at Le Celliar). you could also use the wishes for cirque tickets or to rent water mice or use 2 wishes for a signature meal.

The Platinum plan gave you everything on the gold plan and a little more. You could use it for Victoria&Alberts.

All three plans were more $$ than the current MYW DDP plan.

To the OP. Our family would never, never buy a plan that only included CS and snacks. We really don't care for CS meals at all. We only ever have eaten them for lunch at the parks. Not even every day, as we do some TS lunches. We would never want to eat a CS dinner. We also like TS character or resorts breakfasts and plan to pay oop for these when we use the DDP in October.

The *perfect* plan for our family would give us 2 TS meals per day and a snack. I would prefer to have the CS option eliminated all together. I would be willing to pay more $$ for that plan. :)

I agree :thumbsup2 .....too much food at once with the extra snack credit you could spread out the food a little more.

We would! When we go as a family it is all about the parks--do as much as we can and go, go, go. That is just the way we are. We don't want to be "tied" down to ADR's and we aren't very fancy eaters. We are some of the minority that really like most of the CS meals we have had and actually LOVE the food court at ASMo. For our family Disney is all about the Attractions in the parks and the food is just a medical necessity. We do usually have 1 character meal and maybe something else (WCC).

If we could do 2CS and 1 snack a day and have it maybe $10 less than now that would be great! That is usually about all we eat. Maybe allow 2CS credits to equal a TS?

Our first trip was with my mom and she wanted to only go to Disney once (for a week). In that time she wanted to do EVERY show, almost EVERY ride and had a long list of TS restaurants she wanted to eat at (mostly the Signature ones). I told her that she would have to decide if she was going to WDW for the Attractions or the Food and she really couldn't have both--truly, in 6 days she wanted to do everything at every park, both water parks and DTD and DisneyQuest!--and with my family including 2 small children in tow. I made her pick her 3 top TS picks and was able to incorporate them in--and even she was to tired to make it to one of them! She has since gone back for the Food and Wine Festival and ate her way around Disney, and talks about going back again--so much for only going once!

This next trip is during Free Dining and is all about the Food! But not really the "best", we are doing lots of the character meals since we usually don't take the time and don't want to spend the money OOP for them. We will tour the parks casually and enjoy our meals out. We will miss a lot of attractions because there just isn't enough time in the day for everything.

Our trip in May will be with the other Grandma and she can't spend all day walking around the parks, and appreciates a great sit down meal at least once a day, so it will again, be more about the food than the parks.

But, when it is just DH, the kids and I in the future we will only plan maybe 2 TS meals and the rest we do CS and snacks while we cram in as much park time as we can! We looked at the DDP and it won't work with our "Disney Style". We would love it if it was more CS and Snacks, or more flexible. We realized that we really spend less per day on food than the cost of the dining plan when we go "commando".

The inclusion of TS meals at restaurants like Le Cellier, Chefs De France and Kona is what allows guests to "get a good deal".

The plan you described would wind up just giving us a discount in exchange for pre-paying for our meals.

I'd like to see dessert deleted from CS meals in exchange for a second snack.

I took the plan because it RULES!!! and because its FREE!!! the rest is whatever. popcorn::

I have to agree with the poster who said her family doesn't like to be tied down to ADR's. We're kind of like that too. We do like a late character breakfast. So maybe we would use TS for character breakfast or lunch, and then a CS for whenever we get hungry after that. It6's not that I wouldn't like to try some of these great TS places. It's just that my family likes to be in the parks going on rides. Sorry this was kind of off topic. I would definitly bring some cereal, bagels, etc. for a quick breakfast in the room.

No way! But I'd happily pay more for a plan that included 2 TS meals a day.

I'm glad we are not the only ones! 1 CS a day is all I can really take. I'd really rather have 2 TS meals and a snack, and I'd pay more for it. :)
