Hey,

What do you think? I was interviewed to help create the new website. I think it's pretty good (if I do say so myself!)

 What is different? Sorry I did not notice anything.

naviagate and you can make reservations online. Also there are more details on the menus, etc. From what I recall that was on there before...

I don't see anything new or different either. The ability to make reservations has been there for quite some time as well as the menus. (In fact, they really need to update the menus because the ones they show are from as late as May 2002!)

I believe the updates that were being made to the site were on the back-end of things (i.e., server hardware, etc.; nothing we would be able to see).

I was puzzled by this posting myself as it looks like the same site I've been looking at for months (always checking to see if the price of my Dec 16 sailing has gone down :-)).

I suspect it was backend stuff myself - not sure if they are Windows or Linux based but I suspect whatever they did it was major to cause them to take the site down for several days. I was part of a substantial conversion to Microsoft's .net architecture for a major internet site and we had to flip the switch all at once (always keeping fingers crossed). Changing what customers see is the easy stuff, doing backend work is much more difficult.

From what I can see they added all the west coast sailing information.

When I was online last week, the west cost stuff was there already. When I was talking to Debbie last week, she mentioned that the upgrades were mainly things for them, not much we would see from our end but maybe they will be able to allow online reservations now. I did get an email from Disney asking if that was something the public would be interested in....... who knows.......

I was on the Magic for the 5/15 cruise. We had to sign a waiver when we checked in saying it was alright to use our picture (or else we were told to avoid the cameras). There were all kinds of camera crews and photographers on the ship during the week. They said it was for the new DCL website that will be up and running in a couple of months. New pictures - fun!

I was on that cruise also and the photographer said the new web site would be out in December. They took alot of pictures of my kids, can't wait to see if they are on it!

Now when you choose child it is age up to 17 not 12.
I just went into the website and going thru the reservation process it still has:

4. How many people will be traveling in your travel party?

Adults: 1 2 3 4 5

Children 0-17 yrs: 0 1 2 3 4

Please specify child ages at time of travel:

and the age choices for child goes up to 17 still....

I thought it didn't before, that a child was up to 12 and after that they were the same price as a full adult ( there is a different price for a 3 being a child and the 3rd being an adult, not much of a difference, but some, I didn't price it to see if that has change) just noticed that you could choose past 12 for age of child.

nope, before this website overhaul I was still able to pick ages up to 17 for our group ... the age is required because of the pricing difference (3-12 year olds being cheaper than 13-17 year olds).

I think I've gone thru every page of that website, and I don't see anything visibly different from the guest's POV that has changed. I guess everything really was done in the background. :(

Have to agree I cannot see anything differenct except childs ages, I filled in the on line survey a while back and it asks about booking shore excusions and palo reservations on line, that would be very good stopping the made rush as you get aboard and possiblly people would not get to the port as early as now.

It would I am sure help DCL as well less staff more on line and people could enjoy the cruise from stepping on board.

Hopfully this update will facilitate that in the near future?
