New Cruise Rumors

I'd love to do a Panama Canal cruise on DCL, but a repositioning cruise around the tip of South America would be fun too. My mom did one two yeasr ago on NCL, 14 days. She did say it was a bit rough around the tip of South America though.

Did any of us stop to think that maybe, just MAYBE, Disney Cruise Lines are holding up the itinerary because they want to generate interest and excitement about the possibility of repositioning or adding different Caribbean ports?

Everything is done for a reason in this world. Marketing and the $$$$$ seem to have taken over while rumors run wild on this forum and others -

I'm going to be on the May 1st Eastern, so it sounds like if Al Lutz is right (and he often is), I'll be on the Magic for the announcement. Can you imagine the line to rebook??:D

Rae,

I am in total agreement with you on the $$$$$ concept. When I just booked my "dates" to have until the summer is released, the rep told me to expect the summer to be quite a bit more $$$$.

was told two weeks ago that CMs had been told that there would be a cruise from SoCal thru the canal to Florida.

I have only cried about 20 times during my life but one of them was having to put down one of my "family" 3 years ago. My heartfelt sympathy to you in your loss. - Mike

Thank You Mike , I am Feeling the same Pain She was our Baby
We have no Children and She Was our Family.....

Also how long does it take to Get through the Panama Canal ????

I can't add anything to the rumour debate but just wanted to say to Hygiene99 that I am so sorry for your loss. it is just over a year now since we lost 2 of our cats very suddenly within a week of each other and it still hurts. God bless.

I would assume at least a minimum of 14 days from Port Canaveral to LA but it all depends on the itineraries. I can't bear to look at your picture becaue it still brings tears to my eyes. Yes they are family and you will remember them fondly many years later as well. Try to think of the good times and if you are like our family have many pictures and videos to remind you of the good times. - Mike

I am SO hoping it can go through the canal in only 10 days. I WANT to be on that westbound repositining, but I hate to think of the pricing for 14 days! Yikes . . .

But, I am still hoping it will work out .

Holland America's ms Zaandam Spring Panama Canal Cruise from Port Canaveral to Los Angeles is 17 nights! See http://www.hollandamerica.com/dest/itinerary.do?selectedItin=2004042104ZACL00001621&dest=030000

Royal Caribbean's repositioning cruises between Fort Lauderdale and San Diego tend to be 14 nights.

It's a long distance, and a cruise ship moves at about the same speed that you drive your car on residential streets.

In addition to being based on the speed of the ship, the number of nights is also determined by what day the next cruise will depart. For example, the Disney Magic now departs on Saturdays. If the Disney Magic will also depart from Long Beach or Los Angeles on Saturdays, then the repositioning cruise would be 14 nights. But if the Disney Magic would have Sunday departures on the West Coast, then the repositioning cruise would be 15 nights.

A CM on the Magic said that the dates for summer 2005 will be released at the beginning of May.

Very excited to see what the new route is!....The only problem with moving to the west coast is.......NO CASTAWAY CAY!!

Andy - this is OUR cruise, so whatever is most comfortable and affordable for us (you and I) will work. But we can always dream!

Actually I had a dream that we both did back to back cruises - you had week one and two, I had week two and three! Strange, huh?

Ever think of the lottery?

I just came back from 8 days at OKW. At the DVC member update on Tuesday, 3/9 this question came up. The reply was that there were no firm plans for the Magic yet and this was said with a smile. He also said that although there is information that they (CMs have) but they can not tell anyone until there is an official announcement because things may change in the plans and the legal department doesn't want anyone promising anything that isn'y firmed up yet.
