New Country in Epcot

Not sure if this has been discussed recently or not, but it seems as if Brazil is 100% going to be the new country in Epcot. A new Vinylmation series is coming out and features the flags of each country in World Showcase. Brazil is included. Here's a pic. There looks like there's a ton of new series heading our way!

There was some discussion about the Brazil Vinylmation piece being added because Vinylmation come in sets of 12 so they needed another country to make a full set. I can't remember where I read about this, maybe FB? But the person didn't seem to think Brazil was going to be a new country for sure just because of the vinylmation piece. I'm still pulling for Greece.

Vinylmation... Vinyl statues that are decorated after various subjects... either holidays, rides, muppets, etc... or just freelance artwork by various artists. They are the new hot collectible, just as pins were over the last 10 years...

So chances are they'll put a giant Vinylmation Statue in the DHS courtyard, blocking the Hat AND the Chinese Theater and sell Vinylmation statues.

I'm buying the "set of 12" theory. I could just picture the planning session by the Vinylmation marketing team:

"Here's a great new series featuring the countries represented in Epcot's World Showcase!"
"Great, make it happen."

"Uh...you do realize Epcot only has 11 countries represented?"

"Well, crap. We need another country to represent to fill the 12th spot. What do you suggest?"

"Brazil, of course. It'll be like shooting fish in a barrel. The tour groups will buy them in droves!"

"Make it happen!"

So no, I don't think Brazil will be breaking ground in World Showcase any time soon. Not unless they pony up the huge sponsor fee.

I agree with you, although I do think that Brazil would be a likely choice IF a new country is ever added...

TO play Devil's Advocate though... They could have done something for the African Outpost, OR a patchwork of all the flags or the World Showcase logo....

But while I hope your wrong as I'd love to see a new country, I'd bet money you are right.

Brazil will be holding the 2014 World Cup and a big part of preparing for such a big tournament is advertising tourism. It might be that part of the marketing budget will be going towards an Epcot pavilion.

I don't really believe this but it came to mind.

I would love a new country in Epcot but until I see construction walls and an announcement I won't believe it.

I had no interest in these things before. None. I'd actually looked at them and wondered about the appeal. Couldn't figure it out. Then I (stupidly, given my propensity to collect Disney things) clicked on the link to the trade page and saw the new series coming out. Now I want the Dreamfinder and Figment one.

I'm also in the catagory that thinks the Brazil figure is just for sales...I even read somewhere that they chose Brazil because it is where the largest amount of tourists come from that is not represented in WS. I would think that if Brazil was going to be a new pavillion they would announce that BEFORE releasing this set, not release this set as a teaser then announce it.

Just read this on the official Disney vinylmation blog....

Why Brazil? Contrary to popular Internet belief, Brazil is not planned to be a pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot® (though the rumors made us smile). The country was selected based on the fact that there are many Guests from Brazil that visit Disney Parks and Resorts. We felt this country would make a nice addition to the Flags series. The Flags box does not contain a line up of figures as there is always room for additional countries.

You left out the 2016 Olympics as well...

It doesn't sound as if Epcot is getting a new pavilion, but if ever Brazil was going to pay towards one, sometime in the next few years would be the perfect time.

I thought the rumor a few weeks ago was that Spain was going to be the next country added to the WS? Hmm, I guess that's why it's called a "rumor"!
