as I heard they are reinstating the limit of two trades per cast member and same guest. I understand that this is in an effort to keep the first guests of the day from raping each lanyard they come across taking all the goodies and leaving cheap, inexpensive and less desirable pins in their place.

I had read WDW was going to do this and was expecting it. But we were there 01/05-01/12 I did not see or experience this. No CM mentioned it one way or another. It was as you wrote, there were people who picked clean anything desirable first thing in the morning. But I was still able to find goodies!
