Hiya folks,

Checked out the preview of the new room design at the Contemporary, at http://www.allears.net, and I really really like it!

Now I am itching to stay there, as the Poly is just always too expensive and the GF does nothing for me, but I want to do a trip at a Monorail resort.

Does anyone know what the refurbishment schedule is? I saw it is going on "through 2006", and when we were there a few weeks ago, the South Wing was closed and being worked on. When are they going to do the Tower rooms?

I'm just subscribing to this thread because we want to go in May 2006 and are wondering when it will be finished also.

Wow - those look great. Very 'boutique hotel'. Maybe I'll have to re-think future resort choices! :teeth:

Where on All Ears is the new pics of the Contemporary?

Nevermind found them! They look really cool! I might consider staying there some time!

Well that room style is a zillion times better than the old... way to go Disney!

Kind of reminds me of the Hard Rock Hotel now

Wow!! :earseek: That looks beautiful...nicest interiors on a disney room yet!

SO DO YOU ALL THINK THIS MEANS THEY WILL RAISE THE PRICE NOW???

I am probably in the minority, but I like the "cartoonish" feel of the other room decor better than the new decor. This one looks too stuffy for my tastes. I am more of a fan of the whimsical. BUt since my hubby likes it, I am sure we will be staying there sometime in the future.

WOW. I guess I can't laugh at my friend for wanting to stay there...those look fantastic and sleek and modern!

I read somewhere on the boards last week...I think :confused3 ... that the south wing and the towers were going to be totally refurbished BUT the North Wing was just getting a "sprucing up"...Is this true? If so..why? And what exactly will be redone in the North Wing rooms? Will they still get the new TV, carpet, and linens? Does anyone have the exact scoop? Sorry for all the questions but I have reservations for May 2006 and have requested a north wing room because its all non-smoking and closer to MK and hopefully quiet  (being further away from the boating traffic).

Any inside info would be much appreciated. :flower:

Hi!
Those rooms look great! Thanks for sharing that link, I didn't realize those photos were on that site. It was great to see the pools, etc as well.

We are booked to go the first week of Feb, 2006. I booked a garden room and requested north wing. As you know, the south wing is being remodeled now. The person I spoke with told me they expect the south wing to be completed in October, and then they will remodel the north wing. They will be doing every room in the hotel. I don't know if they already did the tower rooms, or if those rooms are being done after the wings. Anyway, she told me both wings should be completed by our trip. I am a little suspicious that they could complete the North wing that quickly, but that is what she told me.

Ok folks, here's the scoop. Just got back from the CR Yesterday.

The 10th Floor in the Tower was Undergoing Renovations while I was there, and was completely roped off.

Not sure about what was going on in the Wings The first night I was in a South Garden Wing Handicapped Room (1st Floor), before I moved into the 8th floor of the Tower for the remainder. I couldn't hear any construction going on in the South Wing.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Did you notice any noise or smell from the renovations going on on the 10th floor? Did you happen to notice what hours they were working? We are going in August, and I have a severely asthmatic child, and I'm worried about "stuff" in the air.

Didn't notice any smells, and I have severe allergies. Noticed some drilling in the early am hours. but only heard that 1 day. Other than that, didn't even notice they were working.

It's good that you didn't notice any smells. That makes me feel a lot better. By the way - how "early" did you hear the drilling?

CR Tower rooms are really well soundproofed....I think it is because of the way they built the place....concrete structure went up, then the modular rooms were lifted in 1 at a time. We have never had any noise issues there, including the time we were right over the monorail station and never heard anything!!

We are scheduled to go mid September...(for a garden wing)...I was concerned because the South Wing has the first floor as smoking...I think this is entirely poorly thought out because smoke rises...I would think they'd fare better if they had smoking on the top floor...so I really really (son bad asthma) really wanted to confirm that it was the South Wing that was the smoking so I'd know to AVOID it like the plague. I called 2 weeks ago and the CM confirmed that the South Wing first floor is smoking and that the North Wing was going under refurbishment at this moment...she said NW was first to get the "new" rooms in addition to some of the suite rooms.....

I wish I could get confirmation on that but as for us we're avoiding the South Wing and hoping the North Wing will be redone by that time. I'll let ya know!
