New Contemporary Resort Monorail/Incredibles Room Theme Announced - With Pictures

Hmm - I keep looking for pics that give the complete layout of the bathroom/toilet area… I haven’t been able to find a view that paints the full layout/orientation for me, have you?

The old CR rooms did have a separate toilet room - that’s one thing I’ve been hoping hasn’t changed.

I could be wrong on this, but if you look at the picture of the bathroom, in the mirror, you can see a doorway with the pictures of Jack Jack on the wall. It looks like a separate room. At first I thought it was the hallway, but I also see towels in that room, which makes me wonder if is a toilet closet.

Yeah, I think you’re right. The more pics I study it looks like maybe a pocket sliding door between spaces.

There’s also a second closet in between the red double-door closet and the coffee/fridge nook. That’s probably where the safe, ironing board, and more shelves are, assuming it’s like other recent rooms. There are no good pics of this closest that I can find, but you can see the door/handle in screen shots of the video.

Like here - the double-door red closet is on the left, the single-door mystery closet is to the right.

And this pic is that single-door closet on the left, the coffee nook with a drawer for supplies and a bottom fridge cabinet, then - in this room - the connecting door to the right of that.

That’s probably enough frame-by-frame dissecting for me today. 🤣
Good spotting. I think you’re right. It’s hard to notice at first bc the smaller door isn’t red.

Exactly. It's a monolith. I strongly dislike it.

It closes you in.

Feels like a capsule hotel room.

I agree. The wall, the couch with the angle, and the brown line angled down on the other wall all sort of visually focus my attention/sense of space in a strange way - at least from these set of pics.

The biggest problem with the bathroom is that now, when someone is in the shower, the entire bathroom is unusable for everyone else, if the person taking the shower isn't an exhibitionist. At least when there was a curtain, someone could be in there showering and others could use the sinks/toilet at the same time. When we would travel as a friend group, we would just call out when we were ready to get out of the shower and everyone would leave the bathroom and close the door so we could get dressed. This clear glass shower door ruins all of that. Really shortsighted decision. They could have at least used an opaque glass door.

I think someone is going to have to just book it and go find out for sure.

Ha! There are more than a handful of people (even some who seem to not be fans of the new rooms) who I’ve seen posting on this thread that have rooms booked late Sept when they reopen for the 50th, it seems.

one of the better bathrooms is at the Riviera - one room with toilet and shower, the other with sink and shower, separated by a pocket door and each room accessible from the hallway with pocket doors. We were there last week - my wife, my youngest son (20), and myself, and it worked out quite well.

I said the same thing about the new Poly rooms. I love those room, but that is the one thing I'd change.

Yeah, that’s something many have noted about the Poly rooms too.

I’ve sort of been hoping when they open for guests they will have added some frosting and just took the stock photos without it to make it look more open. Wishful thinking on my part I suspect, but it’s crossed my mind.

tempted to book it for a few nights too as part of our November trip - we already have Polynesian booked (and I think AKL with DVC points too). But could make it into a checking out the new rooms trip...

The sinks and added counter space are a huge improvement in my opinion. The bathroom just about makes up for the changes to the rest of the room…not a fan of the Incredibles theming. Still, my issue with the current rooms at the Contemporary is the sink area. Who decided flat sinks and zero counter space were good things?! We won’t stay there because of the sink issue. With the changes to the bathroom, we might stay at the Contemporary again (actually we have a stay booked at the Contemporary in late September…my daughter won’t be happy, but the CR was the only resort available for our dates!).

and when we got to the Grand Floridian for the second part of our trip we really missed that. Slowed us down a bit in the mornings.

Sorry just looked briefly at the pics and haven't read the whole thread yet. I LIKE these rooms!

When will rooms like this be ready? Will it be all the rooms or just a certain category like 'preferred'?

What type of room is pictured? Is it just a standard 2 queen? And that comes with the big sofa?

I've never stayed at CR before but this makes me wanna!

They can always laser etch the glass based on customer feedback. It will make the glass opaque as many of us would prefer.

The bath seems like it will be a big improvement and while I like the Edna pillow (in spite of it looking very cheap) those pillows will be removed in no time. It looks garish and cheap to me and I don't get any relaxing vacation vibes from this new room. not We have a reservation there this fall, but we are staying at Poly shortly after it reopens, and if something in our time frame opens up there, we might switch.
