New Cinderella Suite

I think the cost to rent the castle would be astronomical. If they charge $450 per night for a standard room at the GF, can you imagine what they would charge for the Castle?
It's kind of amusing to me really, considering the value of the prize of staying there is only $587 according to the official rules....

As nice as the Suite is -would you really want to stay there for more than one evening? I mean, you would have to be on "lock-down" the entire time, no windows and it might be a bit spooky being in the MK all by yourselves at night.

And it would be a looooonnnnnnnnnnggggggg walk to the pool!pirate:

it is a minimum of 500,000 to be married in front of the castle 500,000 no typo the last time I saw the wish book - this was probably last March when I looked at it-

The park rent out is $500,000 (yes, that's correct as allison pointed out...it's five hundred thousand dollars), but you must already have a required minimum wedding amount of $60,000 (not the $50,000 I posted...obviously it went up $10,000). So make your wedding amount at least $560,000 if you plan to get married in front of the castle.

ACtually it is much more to be married in front of the castle - the wish book lists is at a minimum of 500,000 - it was at 50,000 - I thought it was a misprint - I think it is because they really do not want to go through the trouble. I got married in November at the Wedding Pavilion-- so 500 was not an option a glimmer or even a thought for me- but I had a wonderful and magical wedding. There was a bride on another message board that I visit who just did the castle wedding- she has some pictures on this weddings board - take a look - it looks amazing!!!

Could you post a link to these pics? I did a quick search over on the wedding board, and wasn't coming up with anything. I'd love to see them!

BTW, on topic to this thread, I do know that the castle stay will be awarded to a DVC member on 6/30, due to a contest they're currently running. I just cannot fathom that Disney would rent the castle out, particularly during this YOAMD promotion.

Wow Disney Weddings have gone up!

When we got married there almost 10 years ago, it was $40,000 to get married in front of the Castle. Tha included closing the park. You could include anything Wedding related Disney offered (DJ, flowers, food, fireworks, characters, etc), in that price, and of course could go over. But there was no half million dollar closing fee.

And they reminded us, there could be no alcohol served at the wedding because the MK is a dry Kingdom.

We got married at the Wedding Pavilion & reception at the GF instead. Alcohol was needed for dealing with our two families & friends together. :lmao:

I believe she is getting married there or the GF.

She sent me this. There are 24 rooms in there.

Nothing has caused more buzz than the Cinderella Castle suite. People have always wanted to sleep there, long before the Year of a Million Dreams, said Eric Jacobson, senior vice president of creative development for Walt Disney Imagineering, the company that designs Disney attractions.

When Walt Disney World was being planned, Walt and Roy Disney had envisioned a family apartment in the castle. But while the space was carved out midway up the castle, the apartment was never built. Disney World opened in 1971, and almost from the beginning, Disney planners talked about creating a place there for guests, Jacobson said.

"The time was right to make it happen. Everybody got together on our team and said, 'Let's do the suite! It's such a great thing for our guests to talk about,' " Jacobson said. "The idea of staying in the Magic Kingdom in the castle is the most requested dream by our guests. If you say, 'If you could do anything you want at Walt Disney World, what would it be?' It's 'Stay in the castle.' "

For seven months, Jacobson's team of engineers, designers, artists and craftsmen and Walt Disney World construction workers have been trying to figure out what Cinderella's guest rooms might be like, then building them, so far 24 total.

Now each day an eligible Walt Disney World guest will be selected randomly at a park or Downtown Disney by early afternoon, and he or she will be invited to stay in the castle with up to five family members or friends. The Disney staff will help them move in from wherever they are staying.

The celebration ends Dec. 31. Disney officials say they have not decided what they will do with the rooms after that.

Starting today, visitors will arrive by slipping through a door in the castle breezeway. An elevator takes them to the third floor, opening to a richly paneled foyer decorated with stained glass, a mosaic floor, framed, original Cinderella movie concept art by renowned Disney artist Mary Blair, and a glass display case containing a single glass slipper. Nearby, a 24-hour concierge will be on hand to take care of their every need.

Cinderella's honeymoon suite consist of a foyer, the entire 650-square-foot, three-room suite (roughly the size of many business hotel suites) is a mix of 17th-century French luxury, 21st-century conveniences, and 1950s-era Cinderella movie motifs.

"That was the biggest challenge, blending the 17th century with 21st-century amenities, and still keeping true to our medieval castle," said the project's interior designer, Cathy Carverof Imagineering.

The two queen-size beds, tables, wardrobes, chairs and other furnishings are either antiques, with flourishes such as 24-karat gold inlays, or, as with a sofa bed, made to look like period pieces with custom-made touches. Two framed mirrors -- one in the parlor and one in the bedchamber -- transform themselves, at the touch of a remote button, into 37-inch LCD TVs. The 17th-century desk has inlaid wood and inlaid computer hookups. Bathroom sinks resemble wash basins; faucets resemble handpumps. A waterfall flows into the whirlpool spa tub.

And throughout -- in the art, the stained glass, the carvings, the knick-knacks, -- are little reminders of house mice, the pumpkin carriage, the fairy godmother, the prince and Cinderella from the 1950 movie.

"This is her home. You are now experiencing Cinderella's home. This is her guest suites," Carver said.

Bear22 why cant you just admit you have made the story up!.
Here is the link to the article: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/southflorida/sfl-125cinderellacastle,0,83289.story?coll=sfla-home-headlines

The only difference between your article and the one i have linked to, is, that you written the part where it says: so far 24 total.

I would say: BUSTED!

Disney assigned a value of $587 for tax reasons. If a prize is awarded with a value over $600,then a 1099 tax form is required to be filed with the IRS.By assigning a value under $600,a mail-in winner of the Castle Suite stay will be compensated $587 and will not have to file a 1099 form.I would guess that if Disney ever does rent the Suite to the public,it would rent for at least $5000 per night.I wish they would offer tours of the Suite to park Guests for a nominal fee for several months after the YOAMD concludes with the proceeds going to the various children's Wish programs and then turn the Suite over exclusively to the Wish children and their families. Is there anything better it could be used for?I think not.:)

Ridiculous. :scared1: You could buy a house with that.

Here's my Disney Wish: I wish Disney would rent the castle out after the promotion and have 100% of the proceeds go directly to programs like Make a Wish. Let's face it, in today's day and time everything seems to have a price tag attached to it and there's always someone willing to pay that price. As any Disney enthusiast would say, I would like the opportunity to stay in the castle. Knowing that the price tag would be astronomical, it would help my conscious to know that my money was going to a worthy cause. Just my 2cents!!!

Can you imagine the phone lines when they opened up reservations for the castle? Circuits would be blown from Jaccksonville to miami! One of the CM's said they won't be able to give the room to Make a Wish because Disney does so many they would have no way of prioritizing who gets it and who does not.

I think they should pick an arbitrary number and the person who is that number guest to enter the parks wins, every day. :cool1:

Don't get me wrong - when the Dream Team taps me on the shoulder this July to escort us to our suite in the Castle, I won't turn them down, but I will make it clear that ONE NIGHT IS ENOUGH:rotfl:

My thoughts exactly! One night to experience the opulence and then back to some clear windows. Seems like all that stained glass and not being about to "see out" would be a bit claustrophobic. Wonder why they didn't convert something into a turret balcony?? That would be so cool to look down at your flock (ie the many WDW fans who are envying you from below:angel: )

And it would be a looooonnnnnnnnnnggggggg walk to the pool!pirate:

And nowhere to refill those mugs......:rotfl:

Wow, does anyone have a picture of the bathrooms? I know that is a weird request, but luxurious bathroooms are my thing.

Do they close the park early for private functions or did this lucky bride have a very late wedding reception?

It looks beautiful.

OK, we're at a half of a MILLION dollars. Ties into the YOAMD I guess.:lmao:

I'd like to hear more about the DVC contest. I"m about to close on some points and would love the chance!!!

I don't want to stay in the castle. I like MIckey's penthouse better. I am a true mickey fan. I would do it just to say I had but I don't think i would like it. seems creepy to me. I also would not like to get married at WDW. Just think if it ends in divorce there go my vacation for the rest of my life:lmao:

Hey Denmark! I'm not making anything up. I'm just passing information that was told to me. I didnt believe her and I still didnt. Thats why I keep questioning her. I think she is thinking about the GF rooms. I will get to the bottom of this. I'm not trying to start any rumor. Why so interested in what I have to say? I have no reason to lie here.
