New chicken nuggets/strips question and any photos?

I do apologize, I know there has been alot of talk about the new chicken nuggets on these boards, but I can't get the search option to work.

So, I heard these recently changed. A bit bummed because this is the only junk food meal that appeals to me at WDW & I had a tradition of getting chicken strips and french fries take out dinner & eating it in my room in front of the tv for an early night in for one night during our stays in the past.

Have the chicken strips gone extinct everywhere in WDW, including the resorts? I only used to get this meal at a resort CS, so I'll live if it's not offered in the park anymore.

If the chicken strips do still exist, anyone have a list of where they are still offered?

Are they offered at any of the POR/POFQ CS places?

Does anyone have a photo to share of what these new chicken nuggets look like? Are they edible or are they comparable to McDonalds??

Thanks! :goodvibes

No, they're not that processed crap like you get from McDonalds. They are still chunks of chicken breast that are battered and fried. Think...mini chicken strips.

Chicken 'nugget' is the wrong word for them IMO, they're more like chicken chunks.

We called today to have the meal plan removed. My son who is autistic will not eat anything most days but the Chicken strips at WDW. The first person told us about the nuggets and said she had eaten them and they were like McDonalds. Which with his sensory disorder won't work. He won't eat them at McDonalds. Let alone anywhere else. The second person in Food/dinning stated she had eaten them at MK and they were the same old stirs and if you want them grilled you need to ask for them other wise you get the same ole strips. Reading several boards they have changed. Going to WDW with a child that we will have to bring food for when on the meal plan just doesn't work for me. They will charge us a fee of 60 per person if we cancel at this point. Because we are less than 45 days out. Never mind they changed the menu less than 45 days from our date. We were told it is our fault for not removing the dinning plan on day 45 or before... Has anyone been there in the last few days. Do they look and taste like the old strips or not??
Help please! :confused3

If the chicken strips are indeed different (the picture I saw showed nugget sized strip pieces), dining plan or not, what do you plan on feeding your son if there is nothing on the menu he will eat? Will you go offsite or bring food from home/grocery delivery? I'm not trying to be snarky here, I understand your concerns. I'm just wondering what your suggestions might be for others in a similar situation.

They are the same strips, they are just shorter and thinner. They are still deep fried and there are pictures around here somewhere, in one of the many nugget threads.

I actually grabbed the picture and put it in my photobucket account a while ago.

Here they are...

They're hard to see under the fries, but they are still white meat strips battered and then deep fried.

Yep, there's the picture. They look just like mini-chicken strips. :)

They switched to these "nuggets" over at Disneyland too.

I am pretty positive it's a supplier issue. I assume the same "big supplier" provides frozen food products to Disneyland and WDW.

They taste EXACTLY the same as the strips used to. In fact, they are BETTER, because they are more crispy and you get less really thick parts of chicken with the slimy tendon in it (ewwww....). The flavor and texture is the SAME.

Your autisitic child will not know the difference. If he says anything, just tell him that the strips didn't get smaller...he got bigger. ;)

I have an autistic son too, but I have the opposite problem with chicken...he will ONLY eat those chunked and formed Dinosaur shaped nuggets. At least they are all white meat and have no garbage in them (no preservatives, binders, fillers, etc). I wish he would eat chicken strips...it would make it MUCH easier when we go to Disneyland. He will only eat pizza or mac and cheese there...

My bottom line is, the only thing that has changed with these "nuggets" is the name and the size. In essence, they are the same food product. Don't let the name fool you.

That is very encouraging! I'm so glad they taste the same, and frankly I agree with you. I hate the slimy parts you can get sometimes on the strip.

Plus, now they're all bite size and cute. ;)

Wow is that a full adult portion or a kid portion? Or is it an adult portion but some has been eaten? Looks so much smaller portions than it used to be! For me, that's weird to say because I usually think WDW has too big portions! I figured it would be the same amount of food but smaller sized chicken. Oh well....that's a drag :confused3

Tricia--where was the picture taken? Those fries look delicious!

I think maybe some are hiding under the fries.

I love chicken strips, but not any of the processed ones like at McD's. On our last visit in January, we went to Cosmic Ray's for my usual chicken strip fix only to discover it said chicken nuggets.:scared1: To me, chicken nuggets were the "processed" ones.... NOT good!!! To my great delite, the nuggets ended up being smaller pieces of the same chicken strips I was accustomed to having...:cloud9: DD16 is just as bad about her love of chicken strips, but she will eat the McD ones... yuck!!

We stayed at POR for that visit, but I did not look for them at POR while I was there. Sorry.

We just got back. The texture is the exact same as the strips, just served as nuggets. They look like the strips just a smaller portion. Taste the same. Good size portion still!
