I just saw the new Chicken Little movie trailer on my Brother Bear DVD. The animation appears to be CGI. The trailer didn't say, so I was wondering if anyone knew if this is a PIXAR film?

No, it is not a Pixar film. It is the first full-length CGI film to come out of the Walt Disney Studios.

Wasn't "Dinosaur" out of the Walt Disney Studios?

Yes, Dinosaur was Disney, but they used live action backgrounds. I guess they aren't considering it a full CGI film.

I saw the preview as well, and was unimpressed.

It seemed trite and gimmecky.
Well ... gimmicky defines most previews, doesn't it? They try to find the one thing that will hook you into going. The gimmick, if you will.

Trite, I don't get. But that's just me.

Not to attack the poster that used "trite and gimmceky" as we are all allowed an opinion or many of the same, but I would advise caution on this.

A preview is not an indication of the full product. I remember some outright trashing of Lilo and Stitch prior to it's release based on the previews. I can't find the thread or remember names, but the context of one comment does remain with me. One poster remarked that the animation looked like Pokemon and questioned why Disney thought that this was entertainment. Months later, the movie was a blockbuster ($100M+), loved by most, a producer of new classic characters, and inspiration for a theme park ride.

Like I said, opinions are your entitlment (much like this one is mine) but I advise an informed decision. Watch the movie in it's entirety and then trash or applaud. Just my opinion.

The one thing I am a little worried about with this move (I actually enjoyed the trailer) is that it may come off as a bit of a "Shrek" knock-off. I heard that this movie was greenlighted after Shrek's success (Before that Disney didn't think fairy-tale comedies would do well (like Eric Goldberg's proposed "Frog Prince") ) but then Shrek came out and was a big hit...

I just hope they try to tell a good, funny story without stretching too hard to be "hip"... which I think Shrek did, and it made me get tired of the movie pretty quickly...

Not to start a war here, or gasp a debate.

But what was it in the trailer that made it seem "interesting" enough to anticipate its release.

Isn't that the point?

And if the trailer flops what hope is there for the movie??

It wasn't funny.
There was little hint as to what the story was.

What was in the trailer has been done numerous times on Saturday morning cartoons with the exception of slapping a Chicken Little mask on top of it.

BTY gimmicky. Sorry for the speeeling errorrss.

The reason why I am interested in the "Chicken Little" film is because I am hoping Disney can survive without Pixar. I still have faith in Disney's animation. As much as I love Pixar, I would rather see Disney's CGI animation and stories succeed without the help from an outside company. I STILL BELIEVE. ::yes::

the trailer is really bad... ( for those in need of watching it go to www.apple.com/trailers ) .
There is no hint of the story line and the CGI style looks like it was done 15 years ago when they started it all ...
What is the main character going to do later in the movie ?? Any ideas about a storyline.. ???
Compare the trailer to the Shrek 2 trailer and you know Chicken Little is going to be a major desaster for Disney again ....
I love classic and CGI movies but it has to be done well, graphics, story and nice main characters ...so Disney please let us know what is going to happen ....and rework the graphics for god`s sake....

I'm sorry, but I too am hoping Disney can survive (as they did before) without Pixar. The problem with "Chicken Little" is the story not the animation. At first everyone was impressed with the CGI animation of Pixar, but it was the story that made the titles strong.

Its still early, and there is little information about the plot, but compared to other early trailers it is not looking good for this movie.

I hope they will do something better when the ads hit TV, otherwise only the faithful will go.

I'm not too bothered about previews; after all, Pirates turned out to be vastly different from what I expected it to be in light of them, so I never really consider a trailer to be a reliable insight into a finished product.

What I am worried about boils down to two things:

1) That Disney, infatuated by the success of Shrek and all of Pixar's creations, will rush headlong into CG relying upon the fact that the film is CG alone;
2) That audience reaction to the film will be marred by high expectations following repeated and accented Pixar success; The Incredibles is soon out and Cars just a little later, meaning that this success could carry onwards to the point where anticipation for Disney's in house effort runs, unjustifiably, at fever pitch. The very juxtaposition could cause this film to become underrated.

For those of you already knocking the graphics, keep this in mind.

With CGI, the animation can be completed before final rendering of the film is done. Since these characters are essentially just models in a computer, slight changes in them can be made up until the last minute, and those changes go on to affect the look throughout the entire film. It's much more difficult with CGI to tell what is done and what is not, it's not like seeing the old pencil tests from traditionally animated pictures. The CGI in the Chicken Little trailer seemed like it was in the vein of "Jimmy Neutron" type quality, which is acceptable, but not Pixar.

I'm sure Sully looked pretty flat before the put in the little program that made his fur move, and I'm sure chicken little will look better by the time the movie is completed.

I didn't like the trailer. It was trying just toooooooooo hard. It reminded me of "Loony Toons Back in Action", in that it want so badly to succeed that it felt forced.

Pixar films were a curiosity at first, but now have proven to me to be satisfying stories. I have lost faith in Disney's ability to tell great stories in its animated films. They seem to believe that the problems lie in the technology (CGI vs. Traditional Animation), but I would go to see any film that entertains. The newness of CGI has worn off. (For me, anyway)

I hope it does well, but..................

I've also posted this in "The Incredibles" thread, along with a link to the trailer.

It appears Chicken Little was made in 1943 as a short and was well regarded - note the war time overtones! Now - clicky
