Sister is checking in tomorrow and was told the check in time was moved to 3PM. Just for hahas, I called and asked and was told the same thing. Guess they got tired of people complaining when their site wasn't ready by 1:00. The Fort is now about the same as other resorts which I think are 3 or 4PM. Will be curious to hear how often people get sites before this new time.

Well 3pm is the same time as the checkin has been for the cabins IIRC.

It's no nevermind to me since I check in before breakfast most trips! :rolleyes1 I tell the very pleasant Cast Member checking me in each time that I expect to wait for my site if needed.

Part of it might be that people are waiting longer to leave (I've seen the long line of departures at 1130am and later creeping by the Outpost Bus Stop all lined up) and the CM's can't get in to do the prep until folks leave. So 3pm might be the over/under time now given the new dynamic.

If it's ready earlier, they'll text you. If it's not ready yet, you'll wait for the text. It's not much of a change in real terms. But it will be an official "for the record" time change.

Thanks for the update, Terri. I hope your sis has fun.

PS - like any of the resorts, an official check-in time is not a GUARANTEE of availability.

I wonder what the odds of checking in around 6-7am are now? We're on the way and that's about when we expect to arrive. We will be happy to just be at Disney and wait, but it sure would be nice!

Well TiggerPurrkins, when you check in you will have a pre-assigned site based on any guidance you provided to the Fort as to desired loop, expected check-in time, or anything else. When you are arrive, if that pre-assigned site is ready and available, BOOM you go to it. If not, you are given the option, usually, of waiting for that site to become available (who knows how long that will be) or being offered one that might be immediately available. You can then check in right away and get your vacation started.

The issue comes up when people are late in leaving (or the Fort was full the night before) and you show up early with no vacant site type to go to.

So when you check in they might say your (pre-assigned) site isn't ready. They may or may not offer an available (different) site at the same or higher level. My advice is to be pleasant and non-aggressive with your Cast Member checking you in. You decide to wait or accept an alternative now if offered.

Agree with Ed on this. Be pleasant.

I usually roll in around 7am and my assigned site has never been ready but I usually ask for the list of open sites and start thumbing my way through them and pick one.

I believe the old check in was 1pm so I don't see moving the time back as being nothing more than allowing more time to clean and prep sites.

It won't change my routine of early arrival as intended to get as much of my day as I paid for.

Check-out time is just like a traffic red light, stop sign or posted speed limit sign ....... just a suggestion.
