Ok I will fully admit I have not been keeping up to date with the changes DVC has made as I should have.

1- After reading another thread I had no idea that DVC started to sell fixed weeks. I am understanding that it is limited. Did they do this with the Poly or just the GF so far at WDW?

2 - Since when could we book at the resort side with points? I always understood it is if the resort had DVC attached to it you couldn't book the regular resort side (with the exception of the Grand Californian because of the size of DVC)? I saw point charts for Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club, Contemporary, etc listed.

Now I know it isn't a good use of points and wouldn't do this I just wondered when they started to allow this.

Guess I will be having to come back here more and keep up with what is going on.

1. Yes. That's it so far. It will probably only be with newer resorts from now on.
2. I think the change came last year. But they are part of the Disney Collection so you need direct points unless you bought a resale before Mar 2011.

1- They began fixed weeks with Aulani. It continued with VGF and is now there for PVB buyers.
2- It's been approx 3 years since they started allowing points on rooms at the resorts they have DVC sections. It was around the time VGF opened.

DVC re-opened booking of Grand Californian hotel rooms in 2012, responding to member demand generated by the low number of villas in that facility.

Since then, they've gradually made all hotels available for points bookings. Booking hotel rooms on points is far less economical than villas. From Disney's perspective, there was probably no reason NOT to make this change if members wanted to see it. If members wish to spend 41 points per night on an AKL savanna view hotel room rather than 14 points for a savanna view Studio villa, Disney will take them.

Thanks! Both of these things threw me for a loop. I have only used points to book regular hotel once - at the VGC because I couldn't get in even with waitlist. Yes I know it's not economical and don't plan to do such was just kinda floored when I was being nosy to see what the points were and noticed all the resorts were listed.
