New Cat Cora Restaurant (replacing Spoodles)

All 3 of the current Cat Cora/Kouzzina/Spoodles closing threads have been merged.

I really liked Spoodles when I ate there, and am glad I had a chance to try it. This new restaurant sounds awesome too though.

Also changed the thread title to get Spoodles closing in.

I went to a food & wine event with Cat Cora cooking lunch and she made some impressive stuff.

Man this is great! I cannot wait to see what the new menu will be like...if it is open in late Oct I may have to change some ressies around

I can't wait!!! I'd love to be there opening night! Will the food gods agree, is to be seen. Wow Cat and her partner are both pregnant and a restaurant opening this year. Way to go Cat!!

Must not be that much of a change if Spoodles closes in Sept and new rest opens shortly thereafter?????

Just wondering if doing Spoodles in June is still an option????

I imagine that will be the end of breakfast at that restaurant location??? The new place dosen't sound like a breakfast spot to me---

If they don't serve breakfast there, I hope they add in a table service breakfast somewhere else at the BW.

This sounds awesome, cant wait to eat here hopefully for my birthday in November. I wonder how often celebrity chefs actually work in their restaurants??

Me too. I would love to meet her, she and Morimoto are my favorite Iron Chefs.

I hope some tentative dates come out soon but with my luck the change over would happen Sept 18-Oct 2 ;)

I really would want too just eat at either one. Give Spoodles one last meal or try Kouzzina.

We are staying at the Boardwalk for the first time in December, and the only real breakfast place I heard was Spoodles. I hope there's still going to be a breakfast at this new restaurant.

Wow, that's big news! Spoodles was on my list to try sometime (guess I'll miss out on that). Luckily they are replacing it with something that sounds just as good. Interesting!!! How fun for her to have a restaurant at Disney! If I were her, I'd spend a LOT of time there making sure everything is just right! ;)

I just broke the news to my DH that Spoodles will be no more. He is so sad, he couldn't wait to go back and have the steak kabobs again.
He also had a good point. With all the mediocre restaurants that need changing in WDW why change Spoodles which was really good? He thinks there are better choices or venues for a new restaurant then this one.
His first choice for a change? CORAL REEF! Talk about needing a change with the food!

Spoodles already had the Mediterranean cafe theme, so the decor was probably a ready made fit for Cora's style. My guess is that Spoodles would be the easiest to re-tool, and provide the quickest and largest return on investment possible. It would take a heck of a lot longer to re-design a place like Coral Reef to fit Cora's plan.

While I'll miss the Spoodle's breakfasts, I really like the dishes Cora presents on the tube. Looking forward to what will be offered in the restaurant.

But, I wonder how it will fit into the Dining Plan? Will it be considered a signature restaurant?

:cheer2: I will be eating at Spoodles on am upcoming trip but am extremely excited to hear that Cat Kora is opening a new resturant, I love watching her on Iron Chef.:cheer2:

I don't care what Cat Cora does, as long as she keeps the sangria flowing at the window!!!!!

I made two ADR's just this morning for Spoodles in June. One for breakfast and one for dinner.

I'm glad we're hitting Spoodles twice on this trip. We love it and will be sad to see it go...but we love Cat Cora too and it sounds like the general theme and flavor of the restaurant will be along the same lines.

:goodvibes

We loved Spoodles pizza window.
Now Cat Cora is taking over Spoodles.

Cat Cora to open eatery to replace Spoodles restaurant at the Boardwalk Resort. The restaurant will be called Kouzzina by Cat Cora and will feature Mediterranean cuisine. Cora has been a featured chef at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and at Disney’s California Food & Wine Festival at Disneyland Resort.

What kind of food is Mediterranean ?
Any American type of foods ?

I hope not totally Mediterranean cuisine - from webistes:
Lamb with onions, garlic, and tomatoes. Eggplants abound, as do squashes, peppers, mushrooms, cucumbers, artichokes, okra, and various greens and lettuces. Legumes too are ubiquitous: lentils, chickpeas, fava beans in Egypt, green beans in France, white kidney beans in Tuscany. Fresh herbs include rosemary, basil, cilantro, parsley, mint, dill, fennel, and oregano. seafood remains at the core of the cooking heritage. All manner of shellfish erupt magnificently from soups, stews, and pastas. Anchovies, fresh and cured, are widely eaten, as are various white-fleshed fish like sole, flounder, and grouper. Other fish served in the region include swordfish, monkfish, eel, cuttlefish, squid, and octopus. Smaller animals, like lamb, goats, sheep, pork, rabbit, and fowl, provide most of the meat. Sheep and goats give forth dairy for rich yogurts and cheeses. Beef, however, is rare in Mediterranean cuisine, for the land cannot support large herds.
Not exactly our family's tastes. Please bring back the pizza window !
