Well, you get the Gold benefits after your first cruise. You would get the benefits on your 2nd & 3rd cruises. Your 4th cruise (or if you've completed at least 31 days earlier) you get the Ruby perks.

Just off the Fantasy this past weekend. While we have a plethora of the Yellow bags and backpacks, this one was a nice change of pace. We are also Platinum.

It sort looks like a rucksack, with a drawstring at the top of the bag (under the flap). The tumbler is the Platinum gift, as far as I can tell. It's nice, but the top doesn't screw on, so it comes off fairly easy (too easily sometimes!).

I absolutely love that bag! If anyone doesn't want theirs, I will gladly take it off their hands! (Haven't had the chance to go on a single DCL cruise yet...dozens of RCL though.)

A complete guess, but I would definitely think so. The more sight seeing oriented of a cruise it is, it seems they get a backpack or sling type bag, as opposed to a beach type bag.

Got the same bag on our cruise to Norway last week. Our 10 year old used it a couple of times in port, and loved it.

Ok we have like ten beach bags!! I do not know where to put them anymore. Dcl should have gift options for people who sail a lot so they do not keep getting the same bag. Their loyalty program is weak.

Well, not to be snarky, but the gift changes whenever DCL feels like it. It may have to to with production costs more than anything. I think that blue/black backpack was only available for a short time because it probably cost more to produce it than the basic beach bag.

Sometimes the gift doesn't change for a couple of years or sometimes it seems that it changes every year. And, of course, different itineraries seem to have different options at the same time.

Well, I know it wasn't available in Dec 2011 (on the Wonder), but we got it on our 2012 October (Hawaii) cruise (again on the Wonder). We didn't cruise DCL again until 2014 after that and by then the 3 different colored canvas bags were being used.

I had 2 backpacks, one from summer of 2012 and one from summer of 2013. I remember being disappointed with not getting another one in 2014 b/c I had a family member who wanted one, and I'd already worn one of mine out by using it at school every day.

Yes, that's the one. I only had two of them, not three. One from the Bahamian 8-night out of New York on the Magic in 2012 and another from an Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy in 2013. They'd transitioned to the canvas beach bags by the time I cruised on the Dream again in 2014.
