I finally did it. I sold my 2000 Accord (with manual transmission, hand-crank windows, no cruise control, etc) and bought a new car. Technically, I bought it about half a year before I was supposed to (we drive our cars for 10+ years), but I was sick and tired of driving a stick in traffic.
The main things that I wanted in the new car were safety (my kids will learn to drive in this car six years from now), comfort (I'm old and tired), and durability (I need it to last 10+ years). To save money, I bought a used car. The dealership referred to it as "certified pre-owned" so it would sound nicer.
The car I bought has been listed as the safest overall car by http://InformedForLife.org since it's introduction in 2005. I bought a 2006, but they added a "Collission Mitigation Braking System", which is basically a system that, if it sees that you are about to ram something, warns you and slams on the brakes.
In the past few months I've done just about all I can to stimulate the economy. After this and my Disney trip, it's time for a break. I need to recharge my savings for a while.
You can see the clear plastic around the Acura logo that protects my radar.
It has lots of buttons and knobs. It also talks and listens. It has one button for talking to your phone and another button for talking to the nav system, radio, and climate controls.
It's got more buttons on the ceiling. Some of them allow you talk to real people rather than just chatting with the car computer.
If you are overwhelmed by curiousity, I have more pictures here. From a photography standpoint, they aren't very good. It was a busy morning and I wasn't too focused on my work.
