We bought a Honda Civic for my daughter in 2013, and we called the Honda dealer(s) in the suburban Washington area. I didn't think it was a deal either, and I continued to negotiate until I got the price I was willing to pay. It was more than a thousand below the Costco price. we also got the $500 off for graduate within the last or next six months. We didn't mention this $500 until after we got what I felt was the lowest possible deal, then we kicked that to the table. I visited at least 11 Honda dealers and our car was not at the one we bought from. They brought in the color and model we wanted by late afternoon of the day we bought it. Our deal went down as a Costco deal even though it wasn't at the Costco price and we received an additional certificate for $200 in dealership credit to be used for goods or services. And we found better deals in Maryland then in Virginia - Virginia dealers were not very negotiable. One Va dealer told me I should find a car I could afford. So I did - across the Potomac....same car he wouldn't drop another thousand on.
