new cancellation policy?

I'm on the official disney site right now looking at restaurants, and for all TS locations it says "A cancellation policy applies and may result in charges if you cancel with insufficient notice. Specific policies related to this facility will be detailed at time of reservation booking." Does this mean that there WILL be a penalty for ADR no-shows? Or has it always claimed this? Thanks for any input!

As far as I know, their is only a penalty for cancelling an ADR for a signature restaurant within 24hrs of the reservation. That never applied to all the other restaurants unless something changed recently.

I have heard that there will be a change in policy but I just called on Saturday and made my ADRs and I wasn't informed of any changes. We will be on the dining plan but the only ressie that was different was for the Fantasmic dinner package at Mama Melrose's. There was a credit card required to reserve that one but that isn't new. The rest of the ressies were the same as previous trips. Maybe the new policy isn't in place just yet.

Maybe with them rolling out booking ADRs on line there will be a change in policy.
I pulled up LTT just as a random restaurant to get details on and this is included:
"A cancellation policy applies and may result in charges if you cancel with insufficient notice. Specific policies related to this facility will be detailed at time of reservation booking."
Unless they are just listing this on all sit down restaurants to cover themselves. But I would think something is in the works.

What this means is that only certain venues have either prepaid (Cinderella's Royal Table for example) or a credit card hold (California Grill for example) at the time of booking the ADRs.

The majority of ADRs do not require a credit card payment or hold.

All the Disney site is saying is that you'll be told by the reservation agent what cancellation penalties exist for reservations that require a credit card.

That wording has been there for a long time. Insurance, I am sure, if they start charging a cancellation fee.

However, the only ones that they can charge for are the ones that currently require a Credit Card Hold. (Without a credit card they'd have nothing to charge if you don't show) Anyone making a reservation that they charge a cancellation fee for is informed of the policy at the time that they make the reservation.
