I am in need of a new digital camera. I need some input. I want a small camera that takes decent photos in low light setting and under $150? Any suggestions?

I got the Panasonic FH25 on Amazon for my son for Christmas for $99 Thanksgiving day. I think the price is up to $129 now. It gets 4 1/2 star reviews. We have had great service out of our panasonic point and shoots.

I just bought a Great camara! :cloud9:

It's a Canon SX230 HS.

I would post a link, but I still don't have enough posts yet..lol..

Snapsort.com has a comprehensive and great review source for any camara out there. Just type it in the search engine at that site and it will tell you all you need to know. I also researched over 300 reviews for it on amazon and other websites. I don't part with money easily! :rotfl:

Ranked #1 out of 66 similar camaras. It is a point and click, but has enough options to almost make it a beginner DSLR. Zoom is Amazing and video capabilities on it can't be beat. Also has GPS for people that are interested in that type of thing.

Still learning my way around it, but I'm liking what I am getting.

Bought it through BJs website for $199.00, and that included a free 8gb memory card. $217.00 shipped to my door.

If you arn't overly attached to that $150 budget, this might be a great camara for you.

I bought (2) Nikon Cool Pix cameras for Christmas gifts at Office Max for $99 each with a free case and free 4gb sd card. Not sure if that exact sale is still going on but Office Max always has some camera on sale for less than $150. I have found Office Max to even be cheaper than Walmart on cameras. I bought 2 last year at Walmart, went next door to Office Max and saw the exact same cameras for $25 less each so I returned the Walmart cameras and bought the OM cameras.

Nikon Coolpix s80 is the deal of the day this morning at BestBuy for 129 online.

I bought a Kodak camera last year. I wanted a camera to fit in my pocket, use the same memory card that I already had and have a pretty good zoom. I HATE this camera! I will never buy a kodak camera again. The pics are blurry and grainy. It was so disapponting to get back from our trip last year and see how blurry the pictures were. Especially anything that was indoors. So we were lucky to get maybe 2 good ones at the character meals. I have had panasonic, sony and samsung cameras throughout the years. The sony and ricoh were my favorites but Dh took my ricoh to work and broke it and the sony cameras flash broke. So I am back to looking again myself. Now the ricoh I had was a film camera and I have no idea how good their digital cameras are now.

I loved my Ricoh film camera until someone broke it.

But that was ages ago.

Now I like panasonic and nikon for small size and decent pictures.

I found 2 in the Best Buy ad today that look promising. One is $50 over your budget though.

Canon Powershot SX230HS $199.99 after $100 off
Panasonic Lumix $149.99 after $130 off.

Canon is 12mp with a 14x optical zoom
Panasonic 14mp with a 16x optical zoom

I am leaning toward the Panasonic mainly because I have seen some great pics from others that have a Lumix camera.

The Canon elf 100 ($129 or lower is very good in low light). The Canon elf 300has more optical zoom for $149. Both are great in low light and include a rechargable battert and charger. Both take video. You need to buy a class 6 or higher SDHC video card for around $20 and a nice camera case.

I have the panasonic lumix zs8...LOVE the zoom, great photos and the video is sweeet! I would not hesitate to get it,,,$149 is a great price, amazon has it for 149 as well.
We are a family of Lumix lovers...DD has the zs35, we have the zs3 and the zs8. Battery life is great too!
