On Saturday I bought a Canon S5 IS. When I first turned it on I noticed a dead pixel on the lcd screen. Now another dead pixel has appeared. This one is bright blue and it can also be seen through the viewfinder. Is this something that I should be worried about?

Update: I went to Circuit City today and they let me exchange it.

Update 2: The new camera also has a dead pixel. However, this pixel shows up in all my pictures. I'm so annoyed with Canon right now. I wish I never bought the camera.

I would take it back for exchange or refund,
even if the actual shot is unaffected you need a good clear viewfinder/ LCD screen

I too would definately return it, but keep in mind that most manufactuers allow for a certian number of dead pixels. It very well might be "in spec".

I would take it back too. It is brand new - for what you paid, it should be PERFECT!

I'm going to attempt to exchange it today.
