I have a nice Canon Rebel GS with Sigma lenses and a small digital Canon camera. I really like the quality of my larger camera over my smaller digital. The digital just isn't fast enough and I do not care for the overall quality of the pictures it takes and I feel like I miss great photo ops because it is being stubborn. I love my larger camera to take pictures, but in this day and age it is more economical to go digital rather than developing photos. I would like to upgrade to a more professional digital camera that has great zoom opportunities. What camera would you recommend I upgrade too, and where would you make this purchase?

Update: My large sigma is 70-300mm and my smaller is 28-80 mm lense. Would you use these lenses on a new digital or get new??

If you're used to a film SLR, you're unlikely to be satisfied with anything less than a digital SLR.

Fuji does have the S6000fd (and one or two newer models) which are extremely SLR-like, and have very good quality for a pan-n-scan, but it's still a much smaller sensor than a DSLR has.

If you are happy with your lenses, then you should consider a Canon DSLR. I think Sigma lenses may need to be re-chipped to work properly. If your lenses are only average and you're not necessarily wedded to Canon, there are many excellent alternatives - fortunately, there isn't a bad DSLR out there.
