The Chapeau is finished its renovations and reopened this week with the computerized stitching machines. They will no longer hand stitch names on hats. I had 2 done with the new machines, and while they look pretty good, they're not as intricate as the hand stitchers were.
They also added a Build-A-Hat which lets guest pick their own Beanie (available in different styles, priced at $4.95 or $5.95), Ears ($2.50 or $3.50 EACH (like anyone is going to get just one??)) and heat sensitive stickers (lots of choices, $2.95 each). Then it's another $3 to put the name on the back. So the cheapest ears you can get (with this method) is $15.90. The plain black, pink, pirate, princess, Tink, and Minnie Ears are still available from $9.95 to $14.95.
The new computer names can take a little while, especially if they're busy. When I was there on Friday, they asked me to come back in 10 minutes to pick up the hats. Hate to see the wait on 4th of July!!

Can't wait to spot the people who opt for only one ear.
