There are threads reporting the CRT increase and the new holiday season rates. I posted this on another thread but it was suggested it go on its own:
so here it is:

(These are adult prices, I have to get my daughter to a basketball game but will add children later they seem to be unchanged, +$1 or +$3 for holiday in general)

Chef Mickey's Breakfast +$4 ($8 for holiday from today's pricing)
Dinner +$2 ($6 for holiday)

Akhersus Breakfast unchanged (+$4 for holiday)
Lunch unchanged (+$4 for holiday)
Dinner +$2 (+$5 for holiday)

Play & Dine Breakfast unchanged (+$4 for holiday)
Lunch unchanged (+$4 for holiday)

Cape May Cafe
Breakfast unchanged (+$ for holiday)
Clam Bake +$1

Crystal Palace
Breakfast unchanged (+$4 for holiday)
Lunch unchanged (+$4 for holiday)
dinner +$1 (+$5 for holiday)

Ohana
Breakfast unchanged (+$4 for holiday)
dinner +$1 (+$5 for holiday)

1900 Park Fare
Breakfast unchanged (+$4 for holiday)
dinner +$1 (+$5 for holiday)

Liberty Tree
dinner +$1 (+$5 for holiday)

Holiday pricing is November 18-24 & December 16-January 5

Rates are based on time the bill is printed (basically when you eat) not when the reservation is made.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
Happy travels
Sandy

PS anyone still booking a 2007 vacation, the dining plan cost remains unchanged

Thank you. ;)

Holiday pricing in effect November 18-24 and December 16 thru Jan 5

This is horrible. I cannot believe Disney is doing this. Just another way for them to make as much money as possible. It's been an increasing pattern in the last few years (MVMCP/MNSSHP pricing and the new resort pricing structures for examples) :sad2:

Since we're going at Christmas this year, this is a bit frusturating. But, business is business, I guess. :confused3

I just called to make a lunch reservation at Akershus for Nov. 24. When I asked the price, I was told it was $28.99 holiday pricing - even though the holiday is 2 days before. I asked if I could still use the DDE discount (20%) and was told no. Since the cost is $4 more/pp plus there is no discount - we would pay an extra $55 for our family of 5. Therefore, we will NOT eat at Akershus that day! I'll save our TS reservations for Nov. 25 and beyond.

**Edited to add that Disney Dining is incorrect! See my post below.

Wow! Is the DDE going to be blacked out at ALL TS restaurants during the dates of "holiday pricing"? I knew it wasn't able to be used Christmas Eve or Christmas day but now I'm wondering if we won't be able to use it our entire trip because we arrive December 16th, the day after the new pricing begins.

I didn't ask about all TS restaurants. But if the DDE blackout dates are expanded to include the one or two weeks around any major holiday - a lot of people are going to be very angry!

That's for sure. I'm going to call Disney Dining and see what they tell me and I'll report back.

Here is the blackout information for the DDE for 2007:

Blackout dates for the Disney Dining Experience are Mothers Day, Easter Sunday, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

I would call the DDE office to check on the blackouts before calling the dining office. Since the staff of the DDE would know more about their discount.

To the OP: Do you know if Trails End or skillet meals at WCC went up too?

When I just called Disney Dining she checked individual restaurants where we have ADR's and in each case it was noted in the "instructions" (like how they tell you you must have park admission, etc.) that the "DDE card is not valid during holiday pricing." She checked Garden Grill, Rose & Crown, Ohana, 50's PTC and after they ALL said the same thing we gave up and concluded it didn't matter where you were eating, the DDE card would not be accepted.

I posted this on another thread, but if you want to call the Disney Dining Experience (DDE) office to verify the expanded blackout dates, the number is: (407) 566-5858, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. .

I have their email address, so I sent out a message to them asking if this is new? I'll post back if/when I hear from them.

I'm glad I called the DDE office! The discount is not available on the named holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, etc.) - but it IS available on other days during the time period with higher holiday pricing for meals.

UPDATE: DDE CM called last night and talked to my hubby. (He just told me this AM). The CM said that the dining folks are wrong and there is no change to the DDE discount. They repeated to us, just like Nancy, that the only DDE blackout is the holidays that are listed. Hopefully if the DDE CMs keep getting asked the question, they'll call the dining folks and fine out what's going on.

So assuming the Disney Dining CM's are giving out incorrect information, how did it end up under the instructions for each restaurant we have ADR's at that the DDE card won't be accepted? It wasn't a CM just telling me "oh you can't use that", she was reading it from her screen for each, individual restaurant. How does that wrong info get inputted into the computers? I think this new "holiday pricing" is all so new that maybe they haven't worked out all the rules yet.

DBF and I are going Jan 2-8th and I am really upset about this. I wanted one character meal- Crystal Palace (before park opening) and if we go, it's going to cost us $55 for the TWO of us after tax and tip  :sad2:

I know DBF will say "whatever you want" but that is a whole lot of money for just BREAKFAST!

Is the experience worth it? Seeing the MK before opening, doing a character meal... it's DBF's first trip.

Personally, I think the "width" of this holiday pricing is not good.

I guess I can see a couple of days around the holiday, or maybe even the week including the holiday (ie Xmas week). But come on! Dec 16-January5! That's 3 weeks!

And we haven't even gotten to 2008 yet! I can well imagine that unless they see some serious backlash, Disney will institute this "holiday pricing" for the 2 weeks surrounding Easter.

I think what bothers me most is the inconsistency. I mean, you expect higher prices during "holiday season" - Xmas week and the Easter weeks. The room rates have always reflected that. And while I think it's a bad business decision to try and stick it to the people who are already paying through the nose during those high weeks to stay at a resort, it's consistent.

But what's the deal with the week before AND the week after Xmas? Those are considered value seasons (at least last I checked). So why be inconsistent and charge holiday rates for those people.

And no, I am not travelling during these newly instituted "holiday dining times". I just think it's not a smart move.

This may be an additional push for the dining plan - no price increase at all (at least until 2008). The plan would really be valuable during these "holiday periods".

Maybe by implementing holiday dining prices its a way to make sure people staying offsite are giving them more of their money?

I agree the length of time for these new prices is very extreme. Can you imagine the people dining on January 4th? I don't know about you but when the holiday is over things get back to normal real fast around here. We are ready for the decorations to be put away, etc. but on January 4th people will still be paying the higher rates.
