New BLT direct incentives!

DH and I think we'll be taking this offer. We were already considering 125 pts but the price pp at 200 is so good comparatively. We'll split the contract in some way in case we end up wanting to sell one--we split our first purchase at RVA in 2020. But seeing as this would be our second add on in 2 years, who knows when we'll think we've got enough points 🤣
Answer: Never! 😂

Good plan. We split a 200 point contract one is 50 points the other 150 points. So in case we have to sell both should sell quickly. Now we have 430 at BLT and 430 at SSR.
I was thinking 125 and 75 since we originally wanted 125 at BLT for 3 nights in a 1BR and the 75 will just be extra; then, if we decide it's too much in a few years, we can sell the 75. I think either of those would similarly sell quickly, right?

But I think that leaves the 125 without direct benefits. We already have 250 direct RVA pts, but what if we decide to sell both RVA contracts for some reason? I really doubt that, but who knows. I'm probably overthinking all of this.

If you only keep the 125, you would lose the benefits since the minimum is 150 right now.

Ao, maybe 125, 25, and 25?

I just bought 6 contacts, and yes, the closing costs were a bitter pill to swallow. But as another poster advised in this thread, decline the title insurance and that will save you some money. In my case, almost $900 in closing costs.
I saw that, what a great tip! I can't remember if we declined it when we bought RVA in early 2020--DH reads things very carefully, so I think he would have caught the "optional," but I think I would remember. Oh well, won't do it this time!

These threads are a bad influence. I just closed on our first contract- a loaded 200 point SSR resale- in December with a March use year so I'm getting 400 points on March 1. I was thinking those extra 200 points will last me a few years since we usually need about 220-250 for a 1BR at SSR. And I LOVE SSR, but now you all are giving me FOMO that I need to add on BLT since that was probably my second choice for a home resort and it would line up perfectly with our March use year... :scratchin

Bad influence? Or a place we come to, to have our lunacy reinforced. It’s addonitis anonymous.

Do it, do it 😂

LOL this is definitely one of those situations where I would end up buying something I don't need just because it was on sale 😆
Yeah, totally understand. There will likely be other sales, there's a pattern now!

When BWV and AUL were on sale, I was likewise so tempted. But since we already have RVA (which we love), and SSR (which we also like though mostly use for SAP), DH was only going to be willing to consider something on the monorail loop... and if it had been Poly he would have said "well they don't 1BRs" ... VGF he thinks is too stuffy ... that just leaves BLT and the Contemporary is one of our favorite places at WDW, so here we are.

My husband would be completely happy if we only ever stayed at SSR. It's one of those where we want to try other places, but if all that's available we are not at all disappointed staying there. We typically book 1BR, and I have a son and a daughter- they will share a bed if they have to but they are getting to the age where they really don't want to so basically looking for places with a 1BR that sleep 5. Figured SSR resale was a good way to dip our toes in the water, and hopefully add on later. I didn't expect to be tempted to dive right into the pool this soon, lol. We paid cash for SSR though so I really need to let my bank account recover a little before I hit it that hard again

Yes, that was a good tip. I wish I knew it before making the call. I was proud that I had the knowledge from Disboards to break up the contracts.

Just got a call from my guide (she wasn't in yesterday). I asked about splitting the cash payment for the 200 pts we want into 3 separate months on our Disney Visa (sort of getting us 9 months 0%) as many on this forum suggest, but she said she wasn't sure about that and that she would ask a manager. I just want to be sure what others experiences have been before I talk to her again: did DVC let you do it or is it a YMMV situation?

ETA: she also suggested waiting until after the closing date of our CC, but that's not until later in the month, so I asked if they still had plenty of points and we'd still be able to do it then, but she said she didn't know how many points there were (they apparently don't have access to that) so she couldn't guarantee it. Sigh.

I was able to get a "90-day plan" with manager approval for RIV. I'm not sure if other factors weigh in, like total cost, or if the resort is still in active sales, however.

When I bought direct during the Aulani promotion, I asked for payments to spread over the following three months. My guide said he needed approval for anything longer than a 60 day close. He got the approval without a problem and we have a 90 day closing. Maybe they are more generous with Aulani points since the resort is not sold out…but you may want to push a little on that. It can be done.
