New BLT direct incentives!

why not HHI and VBR? It's not a bad goal to have. I certainly want to. But with all the youtube and vlogs out these days, I pretty much know which resorts I want to stay.

With me being from CA, it's a bit more difficult for me to find the time to visit the WDW parks. If I'm going to trek to the East Coast, I'd want to visit the WDW area to make the most of trip. I kinda feel like I already live in proximity to beautiful beaches and I already do go to Hawaii fairly regularly so VBR and HHI are pretty low priority to me.

Ive always wanted to go to Carowinds but after looking it up, they are about 215mi apart.

What are your fav./bucket list resorts?

We live in Hawaii so I know the feeling. We go to DLR 2-3 times a year so VGC is our favorite. We’d like to go to WDW every other year but even that’s a challenge. Favorite WDW resort is probably BCV and BLT. Would love to eventually stay at Riviera and Copper Creek. Our big bucket list items aren’t DVC. Those are Disneyland Tokyo and a Disney cruise. I too will probably never make it out to Vero or HHI.

Oh you must do a Disney Cruise they are so much fun ! My favorite so far has been Alaska with Norway close second but I so loved our Transatlantic for all those sea days !!!
I own at Beach Club and love being able to walk there after leaving my favorite Park - EPCOT - still trying to convince DH to buy Bay Lake - I may just put papers in front of him with a pen and a stern look !! Y’all think that would work ? Haa haa I’m wearing him down - he’s slow to move - like sloth slow

We have 130 SSR resale, but deciding between two things, direct BLT or SSR. We would only do the 150 point minimum right now. What I am seeing is that the incentives for BLT bring down the difference to around $6000 between the two contracts. I stayed last month in a lake view 1 bedroom and loved the fact of the extra bathroom. I am been stalking the DVC website and noticed that lake view rooms are typically available at the 7 month window so would you recommend just paying the less amount and use those SSR points for the lake view? BLT is not the only resort I have left on my bucket list, but I haven't even stay at SSR yet and would really like to. Just wish DVC built more rooms with the extra bathroom.

Do you think you’d want to go during a busy DVC time?

Having a near park resort like BLT is great for booking during home resort priority.

While I don’t think it is likely, DVC does not have to keep the non home resort booking at 7 months. They can make it shorter.

However, if you are fine just trying for whatever is available at 7 months, even if not BLT, I’d say then SSR works and may not be worth spending the extra.

I can tell you from experience UP to covid I had very little trouble booking Bay Lake 1 bedroom - only once my wait list did not come through - I go during Food & Wine and I go usually first week of Nov - it’s BUSY - I also go first Week of Dec - again busy / I’ve done Thanksgiving - I have gotten Bay Lake - but now with so many DVC with surplus points - and so many people going since covid shutdown - it’s really hard to book a trip for a week and get all your nights together in the same room type.
As stated before - buy where you Want to Stay!
I can’t comment on SSR - I’ve never stayed there - I can only say I’ve been through it and it looks really nice

Typically I would do either of three times, first two weeks of December, first two weeks of January or first three weeks of May after those maybe occasional summer, but think it might be too hot to go

May is awesome time to go beautiful weather low crowds - I’ve only had bad weather once in 5 May trips
Dec is my favorite - decked out for holidays - monorail to other resorts check out their Christmas deco and gingerbread houses and have drinks
My vote which you know would be Bay Lake it’s got so much going for it !!! ❤️

Trying to decide between buying VGF sand BLT now that there are new incentives.. I feel like I should do VGF because it seems like home resort advantage would be more helpful there given it is harder to get into.. however, I would be looking for larger than just a studio. And with VGF adding only studios, I think getting a 1bedroom at VGF may be hard even at 11months. It looks like cost of 2 studios is similar to 1bed cost, so I could do that, but am wondering if it will be possible for me to book 2 studios at once at VGF when my 11 mo window opens.. Can you book 2 rooms at once or will I have to book one and hope availability is not too tight so I book another right after? I would want to be able to make sure I get 2 studios and can request (and hope I get) connecting rooms..

I think all buy December will give you some good options at 7 months and getting Bay Lake LV 1 bedroom would be one of them.

I own 500 SSR for SAP so I can add nights or upgrade to 1 bedrooms during my monthly winter ravel but I do have RIV…and soon to be VGF…to book at 11 months in case I can’t.

As long as you won’t be disappointed if you have trouble, then it might be worth it to save the money. But, if you find getting BLT for the number of nights you want forces you other places, and it will be disappoint, then IMO, DVC costs too much to save now only to regret later.

You have to book rooms one at a time. This means that when booking 2 rooms as fast as you can, you'll still have a couple of minutes between your bookings.

To add to what was shared, what I do when I want two rooms is I book the first one a day early and then move it the next day.

So, say I want to go December 4 to 11. I book one December 3 to 10. The next day book the second one the real dates of Dec 4 to 11.

Then I just move the first one forward a day and there is no need to rush.

Great idea, thank you!

Also, if I have two contracts, on resale BCV and assuming I get a new VGF direct.. can I use points from both contracts to book one reservation at say a different place at the 7mo mark? I think there were questions on this on a different thread, but I wasn’t totally following, so apologize if this is a repeat question

Yes, at 7 months, as long as they are both the same use year, they can be combined and you can book a reservation at a different resort.

I tried to buy BCV a couple of week ago and my wife got so mad for initiating without her consent. She made me rescind my offer. I don’t think it would have mattered though. The seller agreed to $140pp and there’s no way it would have passed ROFR. Let me know how your BLT ultimatum goes. May haveto try it myself if you’re successful 😂

If your resale was bought after January 2019, you can not use it to book RIV or any future resorts even if you also own direct points.

Only those will be good. All other resorts can be booked with points from both.

Haa if only - it’s a process
I tried to get this one before they built it and he INSiSTED on more AKL points - I’ve never let that go Haa haa
I’ve called my guide so I will gently sneak the numbers to him and let you know - currently I’m not real hopeful but this sale goes all month - I’m persistent 👍

I am truly contemplating buying BLT with these incentives. I was going to add on 50 points somewhere to get to 300 total. We have AKV direct 100 point contract and SSR 150 point resale contract. I am thinking of selling the resale contract and buying a 200 point BLT. Thoughts? Oh and my use year is March so we would get the points now and then again in March.

March is the perfect UY for this promotion. Basically another $15/18pp discount.
