After last year’s Limited Time Magic “Unleash The Villains” mess of an event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney decided to hold it again this year, rename it, and charge guests $70 a person to attend. One would hope that with these changes – especially the new price tag, the new Villains Unleashed hard ticket party would be an enjoyable experience with Disney learning from the mistakes that were made a year earlier.

Wow - glad I didn't go.

excellent blog Shaun! thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts..

it seems that disney isn't paying attention to what its fan base is saying..
perhaps they think it doesn't matter as they'll always be people wanting to come...perhaps...

what Shaun describes sounds very much like what i experienced at one of the Halloween parties i attended two years ago....

i went to two parties, one on a tuesday, one on a thursday...
the tuesday party was a last minute decision....my friend and i decided we would go to MK, if there were tickets, we'd go in, if not, we'd go to a different park...there were tickets and so we went in...
the park was lovely....the crowd level quite reasonable and it was all very enjoyable!!

then came thursday night...i had purchased these tickets long in advance when i knew i'd be in orlando for a conference with my mom and sister..
as we drove up to the MK, even before the parking booth, there were signs saying the party was sold out....
that should have been my first clue..

we went in and it was a sea of people..an ocean of people..
you couldn't move for the people....it was so crowded, it was really quite scary....
i've never seen that many people in MK...
and i've been there many many many many many times, including on the 4th of july...

i was shocked...truly...shocked...and not a little bit frightened..
but i'd paid for the tickets so we soldiered on...
the night was terrible...massive lines everywhere...massive...
and the CMs weren't even their normal bubbly selves (i go to the parks as much to chat up the CMs as for the rides)..

and they ran out of candy....
having heard about the party and been there on tuesday, i was so surprised...
they actually ran out of candy at a few of the positions....
how does that happen????????
i'm sure they didnt actually run out, as there are untold quantities of candy at WDW, but i guess they'd gone through the amount allotted for that party and that was it...
not as if i need the candy or can't buy it myself, but it was indicative of the level of crowds at the party....
probably the most unpleasant visit i'd ever had to a disney park....

anyway....it just seems as if disney is at sea a bit over how to run WDW...
i've not kept up to date on who's in charge or what's happening there these days, but i know what i experienced...
i hope it was just a one off...
but Shaun's description would seem to indicate otherwise..
