New Blog- Pangani Forest Exploration Trail

Thanks for the new Blog Kathy. We did this trail, along with the Maharaja Jungle trail, last week. They are always our favorite attractions at AK. A great chance to see some animals up close.

You got some really good photo's on your tour. Makes me wish I had a more capable camera.

Where a lot of animals out? We did it this week too and a lot of the animals were not out.

Thanks for putting this together Kathy. We enjoy the trails at AK. We see a lot of guests pass right by the trails. I'm sure you notice it too. AK is a great park to explore. Even some of the other non-animal paths are wonderfully done.

There were a bunch of animals out. I forget just which day we did this - we went to AK twice this trip. Oh, Val tells me we did it Friday and Saturday. I think the cooler weather had more of them out, or at least moving around. We also saw the lion on the safari actually standing up rather than just laying on the rocks.

Another great Blog Kathy. We love the Pangani Trail too. Every time we visit we see something we missed before. My DS had a wonderful time photographing the gorillas last year. Can't wait to go back!

I got some great shots of the lions. But many of the smaller animals were not out due to the cold. We did it on Tuesday.

We are a family who loves the Animal Kingdom park. There is so much to look at and the detail exactly what you would expect of Disney.

The trails are well worth doing as is Rafiki's Planet Watch :goodvibes

great blog Kathy

we also love animal kingdom......
it's such a beautiful park and we love walking all the trails as well...

it always amazes me how people just race by, without even slowing down to look..

by the way,, when we took the sunrise safari a few years back, guess who our guide was?
Joe Rohde....
we had no clue who he was...
he did say his name and that he had designed this and that and the other....but back then, we'd never heard of joe rohde....

later on, at breakfast, a CM there was incredulous that joe had been our guide....

i should add that he was outstanding!!! so very enthusiastic about showing us everything...and told so many really interesting stories.......we were sorry when the tour was over...

I liked your blog Kathy. I thought it was particularly interesting to hear your perspective as someone who lived in Africa. It's nice to hear that Disney really got things right and looking as authentic as they could.

I like these trails too. I know Animal Kingdom gets a bad rap, but I look at the park as different than going to a park with a lot of rides and attractions. I look at it as a park to stroll around and look at the details - spend time walking down the animal trails, stop, wait, watch animal behavior, etc. When you get on those trails it's so much shadier and cooler too.

The thing I like about this trail is that some of the scenery is just as beautiful as the animals, especially in the gorilla area. Toward the end of the trail there was a nice little waterfall. However the last time we were there it was all dried up. Did you happen to notice whether it was running again?

Thanks for the post! I love AK and all the areas to explore. I am always stunned when someone calls AK a half-day or skippable park.

This! I'm also stunned when people say there is no shade at AK. :confused3 That whole trail is shade!!! So is the one in Asia!

 I'm so glad everyone here is feeling the love for AK. When it seems like everyone is bashing it, we look at it completely different. I also don't think the learning in AK comes across as preachy/teachy. My kids eat it up and take away so much. They love interacting with the cast members along the trail and I encourage them to come up with a question to ask. My son remembers so much about each trail, and the safari, he is always telling us what is next and what is special about that animal. IMO this is a great park if you have small children because there is so much they can participate in, even at stroller level.

Thanks for the blog Kathy!
