Cool - Now I just need to figure out how this blog works.

We are doing almost the exact thing as you in August. Leaving Providence, RI and arriving at about 11:30 or so, so I am interested in seeing what you are doing the first day. If the park stays open til midnight I may upgrade my ticket, if not, relax, take a swim and take in the Gardenwalk for a bite to eat.

That's a very interesting perspective. I can't begin to imagine a half day only at Disneyland. I think you can get a lot done if you have a plan of what you would like to do.

For guests with a multi-day park hopper, I think DCA is a better option for a half day because it will generally have much shorter lines (at least for now).
