New Biometric Scanners at WDW!

Made a quick trip to the Mk today and discovered they have new finger scanners. Instead of scanning the two fingers it now scans just the index finger of the right hand. This should make it alot easier for people. All you do is lay your finger across one scanner and you are good to go! Very simple.

I am very glad to hear that. We were there two weeks ago and they were just letting everyone through because it was taking too much time. I get to try out the new ones this weekend. They really needed to do something. In between bag checks and finger scans it takes an extra 30 min to get into the park. when I was there 2 weeks ago it took us like an hour just to get into Epcot and we were standing in the heat and it was horrible.

I was at MK this week and went through using the new scanners, they only had them in 1-2 lanes the rest had the old scanners where you stick your fingers in.I'm just wandering if these new scanners take your fingerprints since you're just putting your index finger, I figure they must.I prefer the new ones for sure, they seem faster for a lot of people, kids, seniors who have a tough time putting their fingers in the old ones, my grandma has arthritis in her hands and I don't think it's ever been able to scan her hand.

I went to MGM last night and they still had the "old" ones instealled. But they were not using them, just stick your pass in and go through.

With the hordes of people arriving for the start of summer Disney could be operating the turnstiles under emergency conditions (in this case a toothless honor system) until the new faster scanners can be installed and the computer software updated.

Some of the ticket misuse loss would be offset by the reduction in staff needed to man the turnstiles

I have to agree. We had more problems and each time it took us alot longer to be admitted into the parks at Universal with their one finger scanner/finger print scanner than we did at WDW. Maybe it was just becuz we were there in April as well.

I agree the 2 finger scanner was crazy. My dd could never get it to work. I had problems as well. It really slowed things down when all you wanted to do is get the park and play.

On our trip last week, we were told by a CM these scanners take pictures from above. It turns out my BF's wife cut her finger on which she put a Band-aid. This altered her scan and she was told if it were to come off before she went to another park make sure she let the cast member at the gate know. If she didn't it would delay things.
