New beer at Germany

during my trip last week I noticed that the bier offerings in the outdoor kiosks in Germany are no longer Spaten. But I can't remember the name of the new beers - does anyone else know what they switched to? I was hoping to buy the Oktoberfest in my beer store.

The allearsnet menu for Sommerfest states that the Oktoberfest beer is Altenmuster. The date of this menu is March 2011.

I had a liter of Oktoberfest at Biergarten one year ago. I can't remember if it was Altenmuster or not. I do know that it was not Spaten.

I just picked up a case of Spaten Oktoberfest at Sam's Club a few days ago for $23. I love the Spaten Oktoberfest.

Radeberger Pils
Hovels Alt

are at the outside kiosks altenmunster at both, hovels at the one by the lagoon and Pils at the pretzel stand

additionally Schofferhofer Weizen is available inside

they may switch that up, but all of these beers debuted at F&W last year

do they no longer have Becks? That is my preferred beer to drink but if not I guess I will have to start "drinking" up some of the ones they have down there now...dont want a major hangover

It was probably the Altenmunster, as I believe they switched up the distribution contracts a week or so before the F&W Fest last year.

For better or worse, don't expect to see Spaten or Fraziskaner in Epcot anytime soon. I'm not sure about the Beck's ... it depends if it's handled through the same distributor.

It's been almost 2 years since Spaten lost the contract. We were there Dec '09 and they had just switched over.

It will change again. Beck's and Spaten to Lowenbrau, back to Beck's and Spaten, change to whatever it is now, and soon to whatever they can get for a few cents less. Pretty soon the brats will be 60% chicken...

Yes, other countries should follow suit.

France's wine selection is horrible, and the US should be ashamed of their beer selection

For some reason I thought they intentionally mixed it up. For some reason I remember asking one of the CMs about the different beers offered. I will say that a visit to the Bierfarten without a liter of Optimator is hard to envision.

We're hoping to make a trip in May 2012 and this likly will be at the top of my list of things to investigate.

If you look at the menu on the Disney World website, you'll find the following beers are offered: Radeberger Pilsner, Schöfferhofer Weizen, Altenmünster Oktoberfest, Hövels along with a description of each one. Obviously Spaten was replaced since the last time I was there well over a year ago...

The Spaten disappeared quite a while ago unfortunately...definitely preferable IMHO to the Altenmunster. Also miss the Franziskaner and Optimator.
