Hi all I'm back from Disney and while I was down there I found out they are almost done with the newest attraction in Innovations. Right next to the Waste Management attraction is going to be a build your own roller coaster type exhibit. It is supposed to get kids interested in engineering. They were set for soft opening around the middle of Oct. but I was told they are running ahead of schedule and might start the opening in mid to late Sep. So keep your eyes peeled in the next month or so!

It's InnoVENTIONS and the new attraction is sponsored by Ratheon, has a Kuka Robot Arm and should be pretty interesting.

So wait...didn't Disney Quest have something like this?
DisneyQuest has CyberSpace Mountain, using technology from two decades ago.

DisneyQuest doesn't have a KUKA robotic arm-based simulator. Also, the Raytheon exhibit at Innoventions will provide an extensive interactive play area, stressing math skills.

Thanks.

It looks like it's targeted to middle school age, like the Math Moves U program.

Interestingly, back in the day, the old Communicore (where Innoventions is today) also had a build-your-own-coaster attraction. I remember it fairly well. It was done on a computer, using the old black-and-green vector monitors. You would string together sections of track and then the computer would simulate a ride on the coaster you built -- moving image only, no actual movement, of course. It had an audio accompaniment and was hosted by the Beaver character from Lady and the Tramp, who whistles his 's' sounds. I can still hear him when you chose a piece: "Say, that's swell!!!"
