" Luigi’s Flying Tires in Cars Land is listed as closed January 12th through December 1st, 2015.....

Rumors have been circulating lately that the ride would be remodeled or replaced with a new, trackless “flat” ride starring Luigi and Guido from Cars, but this is the first confirmation from Disney that the attraction is closing. What exactly is planned is still a mystery, but it would seem that it may be connected to Cars Land clones being developed for other Disney resorts around the world. Rumors persist that part of the overhaul at Disney’s Hollywood Studios would involve Cars Land, or at least some of the offerings from the popular California Adventure offering and it’s likely they wouldn’t want to make any mistakes that they made the first time around by building this ride again."

Micechat said this a while ago. The attraction didn't work when it was the flying saucers and it didn't work now so hopefully they don't waste the money to try it again down the road. A new attraction kind of like bumper cars is expected to make its way into that space.

Still hoping that Pixar developments at DHS won't be restricted to a Carsland clone.

Couldn't agree more with you... I really think that Carsland should be exclusive to Disney California Adventure... It just fits better there.

It is very unlikely that DHS will see a Carsland clone if any cars attractions at all. The strongest rumors say a overall pixar expansion multiple movies not just one.

The tire ride at CA Adventure was pretty sad. Ranks up there with Stitch

Cars Land is the greatest piece of theming ever. Florida would be lucky to get a Clone of it. But likely they will do something different to keep tourists visiting Cali as well.

I have never ridden the tires but I feel that would be much better than sitting in a seat in the dark doing absolutely nothing. Stitch seriously needs to go.

You obviously have never been to DisneySea that is bar far the greatest park in the world. I also have to disagree they need to keep Carsland in CA and bring original content to WDW. Yes Carsland is well done but Cali Adventure needed it BAD. WDW needs SW/Pixar moviesS/ and to knock Avatar out of the park no clones.

Bring back AE, I mean really how hard is that, it was a great ride and nothing like it existed anywhere, is it so terrible to have one ride that is not kid friendly, sigh. Personally find stitch scarier anyway and no body likes it. I always wonder how Disney views it.

No, the Tires aren't as bad as Stitch is. Luigi's could be fun except:
(A) You spend about 2/3 of the ride time figuring out how the damn thing works.
(B) Difficult to load/unload makes the process very sluggish and lines move very slow.

It's probably the right thing to replace it with something more functional. It's kind of ironic that people complain so much whenever Disney tears out an old attraction and replaces it with something new. This was an attempt to bring back an old attraction, but it was pretty much a failure.

The original article is a strange read. The title says more or less that Luigi's is going to be replaced and that the same ride will be going to Florida. Once you read the article, you realize there is really no information about Florida in the article other than rumor.

It doesn't have anything to do with Florida really it just basically confirms that luigis is leaving DCA because it's finally on the refurb calendar. Micechat says that it will be a track less type ride similar to aquatopia at DisneySea but themed to cars and that doesn't use water, so basically bumper cars I guess.

If the refurb timeline is accurate then that sort of ride would make sense. It's something they could build in that amount of time.

It seems the rehab schedule is not certain. Apparently it may be juts Dec (14) to Jan (15) with a minor rehab rather than Jan (15) to Dec (15) and a complete ride replacement.

From my opinion, I'd be surprised if Disney replaced or changed the attraction significantly when in its current form its still relatively new.

It's not un-precedented, Superstar Limo at DCA closed less then a year after it opened and was eventually replaced by the Monsters' Inc dark ride.

ok fair comment.

However, Cars land was supposedly Disney unofficially saying "Ok we got DCA wrong, now we're spending $1 billion to make it right".

If they are now going to say "well ok we nearly got it right..... but we just need to dump this one ride and replace it again"... well surely share holders are not going to be too pleased with that?

Disney tried this ride concept before it just didn't work it was called flying saucers it was waits idea. They tried it again because Lasseter loved the flying saucers at Disneyland and wanted to recreate it. They went along with it and it's showed again it's a huge problem for maintenance and it's very costly to operate.
