New at Disney

What new things are coming in 2008?

I read an article somewhere, and cannot find that article now, that explains some new changes, such as the new parade at MGM. We were last at WDW in June 2007, and will be visiting again in April 2008. I would like to make sure we see and do anything new.

When we were there a couple of weeks ago, a CM told us that there would be several changes next year at MGM since it won't be MGM anymore. Isn't it going to be Disney Studios? So a new parade is coming, supposedly some changes in the Great Movie ride, and a new Toy Story ride that they were working on where the old WWTBAM was located. She also suggested to buy whatever you wanted that said MGM on it because they won't be making it anymore after the name change. Can't wait for Toy Story!!!

Thanks so much for the information SnowGlobe Girl. I will be going in June next year so I will hopefully get to check out Toy Story. I wish I would have bought some MGM stuff last year when I was there.

Isn't it going to be Disney Studios?

It is being renamed from Disney-MGM Studios to Disney Hollywood Studios. Disney Studios or just Studios is a good way of referring to the park and has the benefit of making sense with both the old and new names.

Toy Story Mania is supposed to be opening in summer, sorry to those who are going in April! I would be so sad if I were going just before it opened. This has happened to us right before the openings of Stitch in 2004 and Laugh Floor in 07. We were just weeks before the opening, everything was finished, but we couldn't go in! They even took the walls off of Stitch during our visit but we still couldn't ride.

Aside from TSM, Block Party Bash is replacing Stars & Motor Cars @ MGM, that's supposed to open in spring. Also there is supposed to be another new Nemo ride (yes, ANOTHER one!) opening beside TSM, but not until a few more years. It is supposed to be officially announced during the opening of TSM. It's Crush's Coaster, and is already open at a Disney international park (I forget which, though ).

There is also supposed to be an awesome new restaurant called "T-Rex: A Prehistoric Family Adventure" opening in mid-08 at Downtown Disney. Also the Pirate & Princess Party is returning, but dates have yet-to-be announced.

Well I know YOAMD has been extended to the end of 2008. They haven't released what their 2009 celebration will be yet.

Another one? I thought that the rumour was that they were making a Ratatouille ride like the Crush Coaster at DLP? As much as I love Nemo I think that may be enough!

The last I've heard was that it is supposed to be Crush's Coaster (I read it on Jim Hill Media), but that may have changed since I read the article.

That's cool about the Pirate Liar on TSI. A lot of this stuff has already happened like HM2 and Cowboy Camp, hasn't it?

As it says on that page the pirates lair is at Disneyland only. Over there Tom Sawyer Island is across from Pirates of the Caribbean but at Walt Disney World they can't even be seen from each other.

It makes sense for the pirates to invade the island at DL (that's what happened) as they are separated by only a path and some water but the WDW pirates can't do that as they aren't nearly as close to the island.

Yes, it is at DL but it is still very cool nevertheless.
