There was a post on another board about a rumor of a new land going in over by Conservation Station, also a some new construction in Camp Minnie anyone else hear anything to back this up?

There have been rumors of a coaster near Camp MM for 2004.
The Rafiki's PlanetWatch rumor... no way. They'd have to be pretty dumb to make a major addition to an area that is completely detached from the rest of the park.

It would be smart to build a big attraction out near rafiki. That will boost attendance in that area.

I was thinking that a major attraction detached from the rest of the park will lead to terrible congestion of the transportation system between Rafiki's Planet Watch and Africa, and it would "drain" guests away from the majority of shops and restaurants.
That, at least from my perspective, would lead to guest complaints (triple waits: transport there, for the attraction, and transport back, lack of things to do while waiting for a FastPass return time), and less profit for the company.

When I was there in November, the CMs told me that the construction was for a new coaster - this construction I refer to is near Camp Minnie. Since, November, there should be a great deal more done, unless the halted construction.

i dont know that area very well so this might be a stupid question. is there any room to build a walking path to that area. if so that wouldnt make the train ride necessary and it would free up lots of room to make to new attraction easy to get to. maybe they could put some exibits on the way (very much like the oasis). I could be way off but it is an idea.

I think there is plenty of room for a walking path, the train ride to conservation station takes you on the back side of Kilimgaro Safari. I believe there is enogh room. Besides dont you think the station is a bit out of the way they must have planned something along the way. I believe ther is a master plan to AK and only Ei$ner and co. are holding it back. Also if they a5re to have a parade in AK it doesnt seem that the main walkways are wide enough to handle the crows and the floats

I went on the backstage Safari tour last Jan and our tour guide told us they were building a south america section behind conservation station. The area was actually being cleared and a few architects were there at the time. - Karen

A walking path from Africa to Raqfiki's Planet Watch would be a possibility, but not a good one.
Rafiki's Planet Watch is located quite a bit north of Asia, about the same "latitude" of the World Showcase at Epcot, while its entrance is comparable to the southern tip of the Disney-MGM Studios. In other words - to get from the Oasis to Rafiki's Planet Watch on foot is quite a long hike, and considering most people find the nice walk from the Disney-MGM Studios to Epcot too long, you can imagine the reaction this path woule receive!

Further, there are drainage canals and service facilities all over the area to the north, as is what I believe is a large tree farm. On the other hand, the area for the Beastly Kingdom was cleared long ago (picture ), as was the area that Asia was originally supposed to cover (more than twice it is now), which stretches between Asia and a point south of Rafiki's Planet Watch ( Picture )
