New AP rules am I understanding this right?

This year we won't all need AP's as we won't be travelling to WDW again within a year. However, I plan to get one for me, as we really save a heap with the DDE card.

Trouble is, because we are travelling with five kids, we'll need to book two rooms. Am I understanding right that two of us will need to get AP's to be able to reserve the two rooms, or am I able to reserve two adjoining rooms in one name?

From what I understand, it is one room per AP. Maybe if you explain that you have a family of 5, they can make an exception.

In the past I've been able to get up to 3 rooms with the AP discount. Has that changed?

It was three rooms in the past; I wasn't aware that they had changed any rules.

Last year I reserved two connecting rooms with one AP. Yes, you will save quite a bit using the DDE card especailly if you stay at a value resort.

BTW, you want connecting rooms (with a door between the rooms) not adjoining rooms which means rooms that are next to each other with no connecting door.

herc.

Thank goodness for that - we only need the one AP for the DDE and we're not guaranteed to get AP discount on rooms, so I'm glad we don't have to get two especially.

Now, I have never needed two rooms before. Are there quite a lot of connecting rooms in most of the Disney resorts? This would be much better, as it's easier to check on them when you can go into the room easily, even when they are teenagers.

They have changed the rules. We have 6 kids and need 2 rooms. Iwas toldthat when the ap rates come out, I can book1 with AP rate and 1 AAArate (they are both AAArate until ap rates comeout.) It is new for 2008.:confused3

Thanks I thought I'd read that somewhere. Looks like I'll need to AP's then. Oh well, at least we don't need three rooms!

No room request is ever guaranteed and that's what you will be making - a request for connecting rooms. However, your chances of getting connecting rooms are about 99% or even better. Especially if you make the reservations for both rooms at the same time.

I always use the example of my in-laws and us at Christmastime. I asked for rooms next to each other. We didn't need connecting and I didn't want them. It was the busiest time of the year and the in-laws were checking in a week after us. We got connecting rooms.

Make the request and if you get there and you don't get connecting rooms, ask what the availability is. You might have to move the next day but Disney will try to get you what you need.
