Just read on AllEars that as an AP holder you can get the Disney Dining Experience....but...we will not get our AP's until we get to FL in April and it says it takes up to 6 weeks to process the Dining Experience???? I don't need it a month later when I am home!

Can I order it now, get the info, get my AP in April and then is it only valid when you show an AP?

I'd call - but they aren't open now...

You must show your activated AP with usage. I saw other threads where people are getting confirmation letters to use since they have upcoming trips. You might want to call the number and order now and hopefully speak to a human.

Here's the info from the passholder website.

Dining Discounts
Discounts are valid for purchases made by the Passholder only and valid Pass ID is required for redemption.
Disney Dining Experience
Receive $25 off the regular price of the Disney Dining Experience Membership.

Invitations to special member-only food and wine events, winemaker dinners and celebrity chef dinners
And more!
Call (407) 566-5858† (Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. E.S.T.) for more information or to purchase your annual membership at the Passholder price of $50. Once you order your Disney Dining Experience membership card, please allow 2-3 weeks for processing.

It sounds like a good deal.

Does anyone know the list of participating restaurants?

Am I missing something? As an AP holder who goes about 2 - 3 times a year, why would I NOT want it?

One of the few downsides is very few counter services are included. AT least from my experience this year. Hard to say if that will change with the new plan.
Although I have received a discount at SOME resort counter service. I think Pop was one of them that allowed a discount. Earl of Sandwich did not. (Too bad. Good place to eat.)
Sit downs I have always received a discount. Even on holidays. Maybe that will change. If it does, there are plenty of other good and less expensive places to eat locally. ;)
Like most of us I have a tendency to frequent places I get a discount. Too many places to choose from. Might as well go with the best deal. :)
DDE basically takes care of the tip. :)

haven't been keeping up( too bummed out about having to cancel trip i would have been on RIGHT NOW bllllll :sad2: ) but am wondering if anyone knows if 1) the dining experience is only $50 if you get it now with a current ap( mine is expiring in a few days and probably was not going to repurchase till know if it's going to happen for sure since a trip might not work this year) 2) if i understand right do you only need 1 per table and3) how does this compare savings wise with vouchers...seems like vouchers might still be cheaper if the vouchers worked for you( did for us) but maybe the too would really work well for different things( ie lunch vouchers, breakfast/dinner dining experience) any thoughts would be helpful thanks

btw not acast member..not sure where That came from

I'd call - but they aren't open now...

I was able to take care of everything today without having my AP yet. We are possibly going in April as well and I would be getting an AP at time. The CM that helped me was so nice and friendly. She said if I did not receive my 2 cards to give them a call they could fax or email me a confirmation to show when we arrived.

I ordered mine today and I only have the AP voucher. I leave on the 20th, so I will not receive the cards in time, but they are sending me a confirmation email to use. I would wait and order it closer to when you are going to leave since it expires 1 year from issue, not the first time you use it.

Thanks so much for the list of participating restaurants. It looks like most of the full-service places we plan to eat at are included, but we also plan to do counter service about 65% of our time, and not too many counter service is included. I'll have to calculate some numbers... :D

I just would not rush too much at getting a DDE card if your trip is not in the near future.
If you don't plan on coming that often it probably won't matter that much when you buy it.
But I would not want to buy a DDE membership if I was not going to WDW for months.
Say if you receive the DDE card this month, it will expire January 31, 2006. Not from the first time you use it, like an AP works. Unless they have changed how the DDE works too.
I just would hate to see someone order one now if they will not be arriving for months.
I think my DDE card took around a week to reach me. But with a high demand as this seems to be creating, I suspect they will take longer.

But I noticed the list has many of the Epcot restaurants I frequent. Does anyone know if the discount only applies to lunch service or if it is available for dining at any time? Thanks!

I was told Breakfast Lunch and Dinner when I ordered my DDE this morning.

I am considering buying my son a Child's AP so we can get the room discount. Would I be able to use the DDE if it was in my son's name? I read somewhere it is for up to 4 people, which is the size of our family.

Also is the DDE's full prize $50, and you get $25 off of that according to the earlier post?

The full price for DDE is $75, with the AP discount it is $50. Think about it, you will break even when you spend $250 at participating restaurants.

According to the info posted on the AP page it says up to a party of 10.

According to the Disney web site you must be 21 years of age or older to join.

The un-discounted price is $75. You get $25 off from that - leaving a balance of $50.

Thanks for this great info!!! I was disappointed when I found out about the DDE & that it was only for FL Residents last year. My parents were eligible & considering getting one, but that wouldn't always help us. I think $50 for this is a good deal - I'll be calling this morning & crossing my fingers that it arrives before we leave on the 21st! Thanks again! :D

For Swilphil: a child's AP will not get you a room discount. You must have an adult Annual Pass.
