New AP holder - how does it all work?

Just purchased an AP for myself (purchased regular tix for the rest of the family). I've already received their cards in the mail and I'm waiting on receiving my AP certificate. Since we are staying on site (room only ressie), I'm assuming their cards will automatically be linked to their magic bands since all the tix are already showing up in MDE. However, I'm not sure how mine will work? I know I need to take my certificate to a window when we arrive and have it exchanged for an AP card, but will my AP automatically also be connected to my magicband? My SIL purchased AP's last year and I remember her complaining about the tickets not being connected to her magic bands while they were on vacation (until she got her AP magic bands in the mail after her vacation I believe). Also, the physical cards I received for the rest of my family members, I assume I should bring those with me to the parks as well in case I have any problems with the magic bands? Thanks so much for any info/advice!
 
When we got APs in January we got the certificate through email and it wasn't connecting to MDE so I called the IT department and they were able to link it so I could make my fast passes. The AP didn't activate until I exchanged the certificate at the window. We took our MagicBands(we bought character ones before hand) and the cm had to link them at the window even though I had them added to MDE. They will also send you one in the mail after you activate and you can customize it first. And I definitely think you should take the hard tickets with you just in case there is a problem. If the AP is linked to your MDE profile, and your room is linked to the same profile, the Magic band from your "room only" reservation will work as your tickets just fine.

An AP voucher should have a number that you can add into your MDE profile for FP+ reservations.

I'm not sure what problem your SIL had, but guest relations should have no trouble connecting your AP to the same MDE profile as your magic band.
 
We just hooked our AP vouchers to MDE & made all my FPs, etc. we stopped at guest relations at Disney Sorings last Sunday & got our hard tickets. This is the same thing we've done for the last 3 years with no issues.
 

I had no problem using my room only magic band when I activated last year. The IG entrance at Epcot was a great place to do this... No line! (And a very busy time of year when I went.) be aware you will need your I.d.
 
I purchased the tickets through the disney website and they were automatically added to my MDE, so I'm assuming there is nothing else I need to do for FP+ and it's already all connected and ready for me to make my fp+ selections in 6 days? Because looking at the booking window in my MDE it's only letting me book 30 days out so far (no indication that in 6 days I'll be able to book FP+ for 60 days out - unless that's normal?)

Also, memory maker - how do I connect that through my AP certificate prior to going to Disney? Or is that something they do at the window when they convert my certificate?
