New annual pass reservations?

Hello all. If I buy a Wdw annual pass today, can I immediately reserve theme park Day? Or do I need to get to the resort first?

If you don't mind, I have a follow-up question.

I'm buying annual passes for family members to join us.
Can I buy them now, link them to My Disney Experience, make their reservations, but have the annual pass not activate until that first day they're going to the parks?
Or do the annual passes activate as soon as you make a reservation?

Passes do not activate until you arrive at the park and have them activated. You can make reservations on an annual pass even if it has not yet been activated.
