Hi! I'm so glad I found this forum. We are planning our summertime Disney World Vacation and I am so incredibly excited!

Well, being an obese woman, I am desperately trying to lose weight because I have nitemares about getting kicked off a ride becasue I am too large. I would be absolutely mortified if that were to happen. I am 5'2" and about 190 lbs. I hope to get down to at least 170 before our trip. My extra weight is very evenly distributed--- chest, hips, thighs, waist, bum.

So my question is... what are the rides/attractions that aren't 'obese friendly'??? If you know what I mean. Which ones require you to be normal sized to fit in the seatbelts and stuff??? I want to avoid those.

Thank YOU! I hope this was the appropriate place to ask this question. I am too embarrassed to ask anybody face to face.

You will have NO problems whatsoever....I am about 100 pounds heavier than you...and have done everything I have ever wanted to do at Walt Disney World..including ALL the rollercoasters...other amusement parks I have not been so successfull.....go and have a great time!! Welcome to the DIS, you will meet some really great people here....and do tell about your plans. I am going to have to live vicariously through others in Disney vacations, as I have none in my too present future!!! :earboy2:

Ms.Poppins-Welcome. I think you will find that everyone on this board is so kind and always offering suggestions when asked for them. I haven't ever seen anyone being ask to get off of a ride at Disney nor have I seen anyone that looked uncomfortable on the rides.

I think you will be just fine, you have started out on the right track by coming here and posting. Getting to know everyone is fun and you'll find lots of inspiration on here. We look forward to getting to know you.

The only ride at WDW I've ever felt squished on is Astro Orbiter (the rocket ships in Tomorrowland.) I can't fit on all the rollercoasters at some non-Disney parks (including Islands of Adventure), but Disney's are designed to handle people of many sizes. :-)

Here's a great website about Disney for the Pooh sized person:
WDW at Large

I went to see Mickey in December and I am about your size (ok, a little bigger) and had no problem on any ride..nor in the hot tub! LOL! Seriously, you should have no problem fitting in the rides. A great benefit of dropping some weight will be how much better your feet will feel at the end of the day. It is much easier getting around when there is less of you to get around. I was amazed at the aches and pains from my legs this past trip.

Good luck, hope to see you here often!

there is a site somewhere on the net that shows ride photo's. I wish I knew where it was. But aparently I've deleted the link. :guilty:

Whew, I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders! Thank you all so much. I have had problems at other amusement parks, but it looks like WDW goes out of its way to accomodate the "pooh sized" (<--- loved that term!).

Barb, I loved that website!!! It was exactly what I was looking for. I feel like I can plan things a little better.

Tiggerkeeper, you are so right! I have really bad plantar fascitis and I know if I drop 20-30 lbs, it will make the walking a lot easier on my feet. Going to WDW is going to be a huge motivator! This message board is full of encouragement and I appreciate all who responded! Thanks again!

I am 5'1", and a year ago, I was heavier than you. I lost the first 20 lbs on WW in 6 weeks. You CAN do it before your trip! ENJOY!!!!

Welcome to the DIS, and Welcome to WISH!

Onward and Downward!

Me too!! And here is a little trick for you when you are having a flare up. Always keep a bottle of frozen water in your freezer. When you are needing some relief, roll the frozen bottle with your foot....that way you are icing and stretching it all at once. It works out great and serves a dual purpose!! Good luck and have a great time planning for your trip!!!
