Hi - Can't find the answers I need anywhere, hope maybe someone can help...My oldest child is going to DW in April with his HS marching band. We are having him fly down with the band and stay with them, but we will be flying down also and keeping him with us after the band returns home.

We have no info (besides the payments due to the band, lol) about where and when the band will perform. Has anyone had a child do this, we want to make sure to see him perform, but I'm also trying to make dinner reservations. Any info regarding the HS band participation would be so appreciated.

Also, I'd love to know what favorite restaurants you'd recommend for us to go to with our 5 and 8 year old daughters? We have the deluxe dining plan for 3 days (although we'll arrive in time to need 4 dinners and plan to do one day with early snack/brunch/dinner to account for that) and then once we collect our oldest, we'll be moving off property to a hotel that can better accomodate our family. The main reason we did the dining plan was to cover the extra dinner and the cost of the princess meals, my youngest is dying to see Belle. But, we'd like to have a good experience with other meals also. I did hear Boma was also a good choice and we'll have a rental car, since the logistics of saxophones/uniforms and moving hotels make it a necessity. We've been one time before, three years ago, did almost all off disney or counter service and I really hated the whole counter service, standing in line/wrangling a table, so the deluxe plan seemed worthwhile. Again, thank you in advance for your recommendations!

:welcome: !

You have a few different types of questions. You should probably ask about places to eat on our Disney Dining Board. The Theme Parks Board may be able to help you with the Band questions. I am not sure if there is a standard plan for all Marching Bands that perform in WDW or not. I would think that the best place to get that information is just going to be from your band director/trip coordinator. I would hope that they have a general idea of which park/parade/venue the kids will be performing at and would be able to share that with you for your planning purposes.

Unfortunately our band director is young and doesn't seem to get the need to know what their schedule will be. My son is also a freshman, and therefore the youngest going - some of the kids are 17 or 18, so I think he's not understanding why I want to know where they will be.... We ultimately paid for both the ticket through the band and a separate air ticket to have him return home with us because of the lack of information. Argh - I was hoping there would be a "standard" way these band things are handled. We don't go to DW often and are excited to see him participating in something he loves and in that setting.

I will post on the dining board - there seemed to be as many opinions as posts....

Thank you! Julie

There may be some standard, I am not that familiar with the Band Trips. I would really recommend you ask about it on the Theme Parks Board. This board doesn't get a lot of traffic. It is very likely that someone there may know.

And yep, dining is a difficult thing to get a consensus on! For each restaurant you will get just as many that tell you it is great as tell you it is awful! The best thing to do is to look at their menus on our wdwinfo.com site and then decide what looks like the best choices for your family.
