Al Lutz of MiceAge has interesting rumors and updates in his update today. Here is a link: http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al062612a.htm

Some very far reaching things are being discussed for DLR.

Highlights include:

  • DCA attendance setting records and surpassing Disney expectations
  • Survey statistics for CL and DCA extremely good
  • Merchandise popularity and shortages in CL
  • DCA attendance taking pressure off DL
  • Lowest DL attendance day was Saturday
  • Big changes at DL include possible demo of Autopia, Innoventions and Finding Nemo Sub Voyage
  • New third park with Marvel characters being considered
  • New hotel and DVC in DTD
Note: Al Lutz does not work for Disney. His posts are not Disney announcements. He has solid contacts inside Disney and is helpful in giving an indication of what Disney is planning and considering. People planning vacations should be very cautious about making plans based on Al's articles. That is not what they are intended for. Rather, Al tries to give an insider view of what Disney is thinking and planning for those interested in what the future may hold. This can and does change over time.

Here is the disclaimer that Al has at the end of his article.

Keep in mind updates only get posted when there is something to report on, and not before. It takes time to confirm things, and even then we can only offer a snapshot of a continually evolving story. (People do change their minds you know.) Just like the happiest place on earth, patience is a virtue; the queue may take a while before you can enjoy the attraction.

Great update! Thanks for the heads up :)

Thanks for the update! And very timely, too, as some of us have been discussing a possible Tomorrowland revamp over the last few days.

I certainly hope they keep the subs(though the finding nemo aspect I don't like).
The lines always appear really long when I am around that area on the finding nemo voyage. I would like to see an underwater journey but do something neat with it.

I would be sad to see Autopia go...:sad1: But I was excited to finally get an overall crowd report. I am hopeful that DL park will not be overly crowded since DCA is pulling visitors. :goodvibes

I would also be sad to see the Autopia close...it was my favorite attraction when I was 10-15 years old. Also, the closing of the Subs would be sad not because of the loss of the ride, but that whole attraction is so beautiful and a very iconic part of the park. Loosing the lagoon, subs, and waterfall would be sad.

HOWEVER, if they spend the time to produce a quality experience and something that is truly exciting in that section of the park, I am all for it. How about an updated version of Mission:Space, a new PeopleMover, and a couple of new E-Ticket rides that are completely original?

I agree with some previous threads, keep Star Wars and Space Mountain and scrap the rest of tomorrowland.

I was there Saturday and thought it was super dead. This confirms my thoughts. That was a great day to be at the parks :)

Would like to see Tron in Tomorrowland!

As long as no major renovations for July 2013. It will be finally our year to go to DL for the first time. We have been very patient;) We were planning on this July but decided no because the uncertain date of Carsland & crowds. I think we made the right decision.

I'm glad they are thinking of doing something in TL and I hope they do. But it would be sad to see the subs go when Walt was so proud of his fleet of subs. Still, if they were to really make something wonderful of TL, it might be worth it. I'm no fan of the Jules Vern version of the future. That's the easy way out and it does not inspire me.

An entire park for Marvel doesn't thrill me either. I love all those Marvel movies but I guess I hate to waste a whole park on them. It feels so Six Flag and UnDisney to me. Still I know a lot people would probably love it so I'm probably in the minority.

Wow, lots of interesting things possibly coming down the pike! I'm looking forward to an updated Tomorrowland... Thanks as always for posting Hydroguy!

Just something I saw on the internets so take it for what it's worth. Saw a rumor that the people mover is coming back in some form or fashion in 2016.

IMO they could gut the whole Tomorrowland cept Space Mountain and the subs and do something completely different. I spend the least amount of time in Tomorrowland. It's a quick run first thing to do space mountain then it's off to the other side of the park for us. It already has a bit of a carnival feel to it to me.
I definately wouldn't be interested in anything Marvel going in there.

I loved Autopia as a kid, but my children just aren't impressed with it. I think it just isn't appealing to their generation, i.e. it isn't novel.

Innoventions is a snore fest for me, but my kids like it. Go figure.

I personally like the subs, but they are a minor attraction for me due to the long wait time to board them.

An entire Marvel themed park would not be appealing to my family at all.

A change in Tomorrowland would be exciting, but I hope they keep the retro feel to it.

Its funny you mention this. I think this ride is a perfect example of 20th century technology being used on a ride that could do so much with updated 21st century technology! Well, heres to hoping!

Now is the time for Star Wars Land! (maniacal laugh)

With the Nemo Subs out of the way, even more acreage can be devoted to the Endor forest speeder-bike ride.

TDA (Jedi hand-wave), these are the rides you're looking for.

:lmao: ha ha thats great! From one Star Wars nerd to another (nerd being used in the highest possible regard ;) ) I would be all for Star Wars Land!

Completely agree. Autopia just seems like a pollution center. If they turned them into electric cars, then maybe I would feel better about it.

I agree with everyone saying a Marvel park wouldn't be that exciting to me. I mean I'm sure if they built it, I'd check it out and probably even enjoy it - but I can't get excited about it in advance, and I can't imagine it ever having that Disney magic, which is the reason I visit.
