Anybody know the name of the new Savanna that will open up when Kidani is finished? This is the savanna that is going to be around the 'back' so to speak.

Most of the building's savanna view rooms will face the existing sunset savanna, which will become the largest savanna, so not sure they will change or add a name there. There will be one new savanna, ("around the back") for which no new name has been mentioned yet.

I thought somoene had mentioned (in another thread somewhere) something about a rainforest type of savanna near Kidani but that is prolly more rumor than anything else. I would imagine that the limited number of rooms that have a view of this new savanna will be highly coveted.

I heard this last week from both guides and CMs at the AKV. They acted as if it was well known that Kidani would have it's own savannah - that is a rainforest savannah with different animals. It was also mentioned that Kidani will be exclusive in that only DVC members will be allowed in the buildings and at the pool and restaurant. Non-DVC members won't be allowed in and there will be no pool-hopping.

Interesting! I wonder how they are keeping renters out?;)

Well, that is interesting news. I knew that there would be a new Kidani village only savannah but I didn't know for sure that it would be a rainforest theme. I wonder if they will consider a separate booking category for Raniforest Savannah view at Kidani.

As far as no pool hopping, that makes sense. There is no pool hopping at AKV at Jambo so you do need to keep consistent rules.

I'm assuming that they meant those staying at Kidani since they (CM's and guides) don't acknowledge "renters". I found it interesting that they are saying it is going to be exclusive. How are they going to keep people out? Are we going to have to show our room key every time we come back to Kidani? I asked that question, but didn't get an answer. I understand not allowing pool hopping, but not allowing people access to the lodge or the restaurant is kind of ridiculous in my opinion.

My memory is a bit foggy, but when Animal Kingdom Lodge first opened, wasn't it restricted to guests only at first?

Had to dig a bit, but found this on Mouseplanet, posted in October 2001:

Expecting large numbers of guests wanting to see it in person, Disney took measures to ensure that the resort's registered guests would be able to enjoy the facilities without being crowded by visitors. For the first time, a Disney resort was off-limits to everyone except its registered guests and those holding a confirmed priority seating for a meal in one of its two full-service restaurants. Persons making a priority seating requests had to provide their credit card number as a guarantee, with a $10 per-person fee if the priority seating was not canceled at least 24 hours in advance. These restrictions have since been lifted, and all persons are now free to visit the resort.

That sounds good would be nice to have a members only section...coming from a AKV owner.

It will be interesting to see how they would keep non-DVC guests out of Kidani village's lobby and restaurant (Sanaa). I would think they would welcome non-DVC guests in so they could see the amenities and beauty of Kidani Village and potentially purchase a DVC ownership.

Maybe they meant that they would not have any rooms for CRO in Kidani, just DVC reservations?

We jsut got back from AKV last night....a CM told us there will be White Rhinos on the new savanna at Kidani.....just repeating what we were told:)

He went on and on about how authentic and unbelievable Kidani is hoing to be!

We had a 1 bdr SV on Kudu Trail...loved it loved it!!!!! Loved the room...location, CM's are great here!!! Just loved the whole resort!
