They just posted On this Facebook group I am part of about a new after hours event supposedly coming to MK
"Disney is introducing a new after hours hard ticket event called Disney After Hours
Guests purchase a $149 ticket for three hours in the Magic Kingdom after park close, including meet & greets & attractions.
Tickets go on sale April 6th for the following dates:
April: 14, 21, 28
May: 5, 8, 12, 19"

At $149 for 3 hours that probably will mean lower crowds. especially when you add in the timing (Midnight to 3 a.m.?)--

This is getting crazy-- first you buy a ticket for the park, then you buy a ticket for the park. Maybe they will some day offer a annual pass for the additional park hours. Then if you actually want an annual pass, you would have to buy two.... Maybe they will just sell hourly-- the first two hours of the day are at a reduced rate, since not everyone makes rope drop--- but hours from 11 to 2;45 are premium priced, although if you enter the park after the parades, you can get a mid level pricing, until about 6;27, when most dinners are finished---because then the price will drop to mid low, not to be confused with mid high during low demand season... or high mid high season low time slot. Please just tell me what you want to charge for us to get in the parks.

Was looking forward to 24 hour event that seemed to be a good bang for the buck, but no go. Oct 1st is the 45 year anniversary of opening of WDW guess it would be too much to hope for some sorta special event for that occasion. Maybe they will wait for the big 50!!

It appears to basically be the same as the DVC member event, including the "free" ice cream. With a 7pm check in, it could allow 6-7 hours of MK time (only 3 being exclusive)

Way too spendy for me... But if I was just looking at a $110 1 day MK ticket or this...

This is exactly what I was thinking. My wife and I are planning a short 2-night stay a few months from now with no APs or other admission media readily available.

There would have to be more to it than just 3 hours in the parks for $150. And I'd want to read reviews first before paying. But if the event provides virtual walk-on access to every attraction, it may be worth the extra cost for an adults-only visit where minimizing wait time is truly valued.

It's more than 3 hours, you can enter at 7:00, which makes it 6 or 7 hours. You can also see the evening parade and fireworks.

It seems like they are getting a bit greedy.
It's very odd/interesting.

EMH was a resort-only perk, and this is open to all. Are all resorts basically full?

For a "special event" it's more expensive than MVMCP and MNSSHP ... Without going through the expense of decor, parades...

There are rumors that if these special hours events are successful, Disney will do away with EMH all together. I don't know how that (loss of EMH) would impact onsite occupancy because it is one of the benefits I value when deciding to stay onsite. This will also impact my decision on whether I would purchase DVC.

LAX

I don't think this necessarily means the end of EMH. I think their target audience is off Disney guests. They can offer this on nights when their are no EMH.

Or as TJ said Disney guests that buy this ticket instead of a day ticket to MK>

Time will tell I guess. I think they would lose bookings at Disney resorts if they stop EMH completely.

At $50 a hour it would have to be very exclusive for me to be interested.

Yeah-- my resident pass is (or was this year) under 300.00. I spend about 18 days a year in the parks. that's 16.66 a day. Not paying 50.00 or even 25.00 an hour.

Value is perceived so if it's worth it to you, then it's worth it. I personally found this to be ridiculous but anything is worth anything if you think it is.
I have had AP's for 6 years now. The first 2 were premium passes. Then down graded to regular AP's. This year I down graded again to seasonal. The $$ is just not there for me and there is no way I'd pay this for a few extra hours and a Mickey bar. Sorry WDW, there's no value in it for me.

It's not a terrible idea, if it remains only a handful of dates during the year. $50 an hour is no value to me....especially as an AP holder. we've been enough, and done enough that I have no desire for this....however, it leads to a more concerning thing where you pay to play. More "exclusive" things the more you are willing to pay. I would want to know EXACTLY how many tickets are for sale to see how exclusive it is.

Anything that leads to decreased park hours for those NOT in the exclusive events is a negative to me. It doesn't appear that's the case here, but if it affect EMH I'd be upset. It's one of our reasons for buying DVC and staying on property. Plenty of other Timeshare deals and places to stay without DVC.
