We are now up to 5 cats and 1 dog. Our newest addition will be with us in 2 weeks, once she is over her upper respiratory infection.
My DD had to give up her cat because she could not afford the apartment deposit and to get the cat her shots, spayed and declawed. Let me tell you that it was not an easy choice for her and it wasn't her idea to get the cat to begin with. DD's ex-BF brought the cat home one day. DD already had a dog that she had paid the deposit for and was fine with just the dog. The BF was going to pay the deposit and then that fell through. Well to make a long story short, DD recently kicked BF out of the apartment because of some issues they had and he would not take the cat with him. He threatened to just let it loose and to fend for itself.
DD couldn't let that happen, so she ended up taking it to the local shelter (I didn't think DH would want another cat). DD was very upset at having to take it to the shelter, but was happy when she called me later, saying that it looked like Miss Priss was going to be adopted.
Fast forward to this past weekend - (Miss Priss was dropped off on the Wednesday prior), DH & I went to Petsmart and they were having an adoption drive. I was looking at the cats and there is Miss Priss. I called DD and told her and she was so upset.
I was sad to see Miss Priss there and when I told DH about it, he wasn't happy either. DH had been saying that we need to get our youngest, Tinker Boo, a friend because he is just 1yo this month and the next youngest is 6yo with the oldest at 12.
DH says if you want to get Miss Priss that is fine. Gotta love my DH
, he is a sucker for animals.
When I go to pickup Miss Priss from the shelter she has been sneezing and they think she has an upper respiratory infection. So I take her to my DD's until we can get her to the vet. Miss Priss went to the vet Friday and she has to be kept away from the other cats until this is cleared up. Thankfully DD can keep her for that time.
